Pancreatic Cancer devastates the body. It does not destroy the brain, so a person knows exactly what is going on.

Sometimes, traditional Chinese Herbal medicine is used in an attempt at a cure. This is a big mistake.

Traditional Chinese medicine focuses on restoring a balance of energy, body, and spirit to maintain health rather than treating a particular disease. Herbs are used with the goal of restoring balance by nourishing the body. What a wonderful fantasy. If only it could be even partially true but I do not believe it and am sorry to dispel the notion.

My NFL husband of 49 years, was diagnosed with the disease when he was 74 years old. We were told "you will not survive this". That is how we were told that he would be dead in six months, and he was.

Yes, we tried a Chinese green herbal drink, but it interfered with the chemotherapy that was critical for even a few months survival. His doctor was appalled that we had begun this type of treatment.

Chinese herbal medicine is not based on conventional Western concepts. It uses a variety of herbs in different combination's in an attempt to balance the body. Some practitioners claim herbs have the power to prevent and treat a variety of types of cancer.

Well, my experience would say that does not include Pancreatic Cancer. Steve Jobs had a liver transplant after living with the disease for 4 years. I guess he was luckier, or richer, than my husband. This is an absolutely debilitating devastating condition for everyone involved. Especially for the one who suffered with his brain intact.

Our way of dealing with these horrible 6 months, was to write his autobiography. He had led a most interesting life and the family would appreciate having this related in his own words. I was computer literate, and he would dictate a few pages to me. I would give the pages to him to correct, add to or update and he returned them to me after a few days. Thus, we had something to talk about other than his disease and saying goodbye.

My husband forced himself to go to work everyday, and his friends would come by to see him. He could not keep anything down, but tried to drink a lot of water. He refused to give in to the disease of pancreatic cancer. He kept his mind occupied and his body as active as possible, although by this time, he was in a wheelchair.

Can you believe he traveled from California and gave a speech at a National Convention in Florida 2 weeks before his death and conducted a Board of Directors Meeting just 2 days before?

He was only in the hospital for one night before he succumbed. And, yes, two angels came for him. I saw them.
