Aloe vera is not only thought to hold health benefits but also benefits where beauty is concerned. This fact is reinforced by the sheer variety of aloe vera products that you will find in just about any supermarket. While there is still some debate, there is no doubt that the plant is full of medicinal uses and health benefits. As far as beauty treatments are concerned, the aloe plant has long been used in treatments from hair to skin care.

It is typically the fresh gel that is thought to be most useful and topical applications are common. This could be something as basic as hydrating a person's skin, such as when winter comes along or it could be used when faced with different skin disorders. For instance, some diseases leave a person with skin problems such as itchiness and dryness, making aloe vera a useful application. More serious problems relating to the skin, such as psoriasis, can also be benefited by the use of this gel.

While many firmly believe in the ability of the aloe plant gel to cure various diseases, there is still some debate. The juice of the plant has been recommended for ailments such as acid reflux and other disorders. It is also thought to help in control of some cases of diabetes, since it is linked with glucose levels being lowered. Its healing effects have been noted when it comes to making wounds better and taking care of mild burns.

You need not fall for every product that claims to have some extract of the plant, since countless products all claim to have aloe vera extracts. It might be a better idea to grow the plant yourself since aloe vera is relatively easy to grow and it can be directly used in general topical applications. One has to understand that the aloe vera plant still has plenty of controversy when it comes to uses, especially medicinally.

It would be advisable to use the plant but still fall back on conventional treatments, especially when the aloe vera gel benefits are still uncertain. It would be better to stick to topical applications, since aloe vera has proved its worth in milder skin care. There is concern over the consumption of the juice of the aloe vera plant and excess amounts of this can lead to further problems. Even with its regular use, do not be entirely dependent on the gel of the aloe plant.
