Having a toothache can affect every aspect of your daily life. If the pain becomes substantial enough it may make you feel as if you can think of nothing else.

If you are feeling intense tooth pain it is crucial that you go see a dentist as soon as possible. A dentist will be able to identify what is causing the tooth pain and an effective way to fix the tooth so the pain ceases.

Tooth pain can come from a variety of sources. Something as simple as a piece of food caught between teeth can cause pain but something as serious as a cracked tooth can also cause pain.

Seeking professional help and advice is always your best bet, but sometimes it is just not possible. If you find yourself experiencing pain originating from a tooth and cannot get to a dentist there are home remedies that can substantially lower the amount of pain you experience.

Many of the remedies may seem quite odd, but give them a try. You will be able to find the remedy that best suites you and alleviates your pain.

For some taking the peel off of a clove of garlic and sprinkling it with some rock salt and then placing the clove of garlic on the affected tooth relieves the pain. Make sure to only place the clove on the tooth and not bite the clove of garlic.

Others have reported that a small piece of onion placed on the hurting tooth will remedy the pain. This is plausible because the onion has antibacterial properties that kill the germs in the mouth.

Limes have a rich source of vitamin C and are a great tool in preventing toothaches. Limes have also been reported to relieve pain because of the concentration of vitamin C.

Taking a shot of wheat grass and swishing it around your mouth may not be the best tasting remedy, but it will rid your mouth of the germs and toxins in your mouth. By getting rid of the germs and toxins, you will prevent further pain.

Asafoetida may be foul-smelling, but it is great for relieving pain coming from a tooth. To make the Asafoetida easy to apply, make a thin paste with the Asafoetida and applying it directly to the tooth.

Bay berry in combination with vinegar will act as a temporary pain reliever when applied directly to the tooth. The paste is not very appetizing, so make sure to wipe off the paste after you feel the relief instead of swallowing it.

If you are experiencing extreme sensitivity in your mouth it is very beneficial to take a pinch of pepper powder mixed with common salt and apply it directly to the sensitive teeth. The concoction will help your teeth withstand cold and hot foods and sweet foods without the excessive discomfort.

What may be the most common recipe to rid yourself of tooth pain is to rinse your mouth with warm salt water. Swishing the warm salt water around will not taste good, but it will definitely provide noticeable results.

Warm salt water is not only utilized for toothaches, but should also be used almost every dental procedure. The warm salt water helps wounds heal faster and without infection.

If you have had your wisdom teeth removed recently, a cavity filled or a root canal rinsing with warm salt water will prove to be very beneficial. Not only will you be relieving immediate pain, but you will be preventing pain in the future from occurring.

It is very important to not underestimate the effects of tooth pain. Although these remedies have been created to help you function in your day to day life, they are not a permanent fix.

If your pain is excruciating you may have an abscessed tooth. Recognizing the other symptoms of an abscess can help you avoid dealing with the horrific consequences of not treating a tooth in this condition.

If the pain in your mouth comes along with a fever, a bitter taste in your mouth, foul smelling breath, swollen neck glands, redness and swelling of the gums or an open draining sore on the side of the gum schedule an emergency appointment with your dentist right now.

An abscess occurs when the pulp inside the tooth becomes infected. Sometimes this will cause the tooth to break underneath the gum. The infection can spread quickly into your blood stream or even into your eye socket.

If your tooth pain is consistent, constant or unbearable please contact your dentist immediately.-
