If you are looking for some cure for athlete's foot, worry not, because you can actually find simple ways to prevent, treat and eliminate this itchy disease. Like any other health problems or disease, the best cure is prevention and the same way, the best cure for athlete's foot is preventing it.

To avoid getting infection from the fungi that caused athlete's foot, here are some important things that you should watch out for to be able to prevent this fungal infection, or help cure it if you already have one.

- Wear clean socks and shoes always. It also helps to let your shoes rest for a day before using it again to make it breathe and wear socks only once - whether they are still clean or not. Avoid tight shoes if your feet are sweaty. Apply foot powder to keep it dry.

- Always make sure that your feet are clean and dry. Damp and moist places are favorable for fungi growth and that can indeed worsen your condition. Athlete's foot is caused by the fungi that thrive in damp, warm places and you can usually get this by walking barefoot in public swimming pools, in gym locker rooms, in hotel shower rooms and by using shoes of people with athlete's foot. With these, you can actually prevent this fungal infection by not walking barefoot in these mentioned places.

However, if infection has already developed, you can help yourself in finding cure for athlete's foot. Aside from the many over-the-counter medications, you can also find natural home remedies that are effective against this fungal infection.

Tea trea oil. Tea tree oil is one of the natural remedies for this fungal infection that you can use. Drops of tea tree oil are usually combined with small part of water where you can soak your affected feet. After soaking, it is also important to keep your feet completely dry as well.

Garlic. Garlic is also another natural remedy for fungal infection. You can put fresh garlic on your affected feet all day to eliminate the fungi causing the infection.

Another cure for athlete's foot is soaking your feet in warm water with epsom salt. Baking soda is also used by some people in balancing the pH of the feet and thus, helps also in treating fungal infections.

Although this fungal infection is generally easy to cure and it responds well to natural treatments and other self-care treatments, it is important not to think that you can just ignore it. Seeking treatment is important not just for you but for the people around you. This fungal infection can transfer from another person easily thus, you should be responsible enough too to be able to avoid its transfer to others.

Keep in mind however, that athlete's foot most likely appear also together with other skin diseases like jock itch and ringworm, and may be hard to control if it has been left untreated.
