New processes of producing fish oil, namely the pharmaceutical grade fish oil are bringing a revolution in the fish oil industry. It has been proved through various scientific researches that they provide high quantity of Omega-3 Fatty acids that are beneficial to our health in a number of ways. They help in improving the cardiovascular movements of our heart, strengthen immune system, support healthy kidneys, provide better joint movement and offer many more health benefits.

Various fish oils are distinguished from their purity and the quantity of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids they contain. Crude fish oils are likely to contain a high quantity of pollutants such as DDT, organic mercury, and PCBs. Some of them can even prove dangerous to health if consumed without considering the quantity of dose.
Most of the health-food grade fish oils are produced using fish-body-oils. These oils can be produced using several or single species of fish. There is relatively small amount of environmental pollutants in small fish such as anchovies and sardines because they do not live a long life so are less prone to toxins present in the water. Mackerel and salmon are larger species and live a longer life. So they can contain a higher quantity of toxins. So before you choose the product, ensure the species of the fish.

Pharmaceutical grade fish oils are the latest craze among health conscious people. These oils come from health food grade fish oils that are thermally fractionated. A highly complex distillation process is then used for refining these oils into fraction-rich, long-chain omega-3 fatty acids. Manufacturers claim that only one gallon of this oil is extracted from 100 gallons of health-food grade fish oil.

The individual fractions are further combined to offer a ratio of 1:2 of Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) for the final product. Scientific research on these oils that provided the 1:2 ratios of DHA and EPA reported considerably high clinical benefits.

These oils are remarkably low in PCB's, long-chain monoenes, and other toxins. These fish oils are the safest oils that can be taken in high quantities. There are at least 600 mg. of long chain omega-3 fatty acids in one gram capsule of these oils.

Pharmaceutical grade fish oils are the latest products in the market and so many products are in the market that it is quite difficult to find the best quality source. Moreover, these capsules are very expensive compared to the food grade fish oil capsule. Sometimes they may cost as much as twice the price. The complex techniques that are required to get the purest form are the main reason behind the increased prices.

Every single step of the refining process results in extra production costs. It may take nine additional steps to get them from the health food grade fish oil. These oils usually taste better and the quantity of pollutants that can cause gastric problems is reduced dramatically.
