A Few New Ways To Approach Healthy Weight Loss

Getting advice on ways to lose weight and look great come in two extremes: the boring, "logical" way that involves counting calories and meticulously measuring your heart rate at the gym and the "too easy" way that involves taking too many pills and crash dieting which can be dangerous.

But isn't there some solution in between? Can't we find some way to make the process a little easier and even a little more fun? As a matter of fact, there are some ways to do just that. Now, I will say right off the bat that these tips may not work for everyone, but hopefully, they will be useful to some of you out there!

First of all, take a look at your cupboards and your refrigerator. Dieting doesn't have to be about self-deprivation. Instead, you need to rethink how you approach food, and the best way to do that is to be armed with knowledge.

You see, fat gives food--especially dairy products--a creamy texture. That is why many non-fat foods become so unappealing. Instead of trying to switch to non-fat foods, try a few different brands of low fat staple items, like ice cream (double-churned in particular), sour cream, milk, and cottage cheese.

Low fat foods like these tend to be equally satisfying as their whole fat counterparts but are obviously better for you in the long run. But be careful you do not consume more than you normally would just because the food item is "low fat."

Don't be completely afraid of weight loss aids. Many diet pills contain high amounts of caffeine and other stimulants, but HCG--a hormone that is touted for its potential to help in weight loss endeavors--can come in a variety of forms, including shots and HCG drops and may increase weight loss when paired with healthy habits.

Everyone knows that exercise is a vital part of the weight loss process. But the key to having fun is to target what sort of exercise suits you best. Some people get motivated when they have a "gym buddy," with whom they take classes, go biking, or lift weights.

Others prefer solitude. Your local gym might offer classes, but you may feel pushed away by the thought of "performing" before others--or worse, messing up. In that case, you should take some time to browse the internet or your local video store to find what most interests you.

For example, I have recently discovered a great love for belly dancing, but local classes are pricey and frequently include required recitals. The thought makes me shake! But in the comfort of my own home, I can dance away without those anxieties.

Explore your options until you find something you are crazy for. I promise, there is something for everyone!
