Somehow we were alarmed by the 'swine flu that has affected many people in different parts of the world. And because this disease strikes with just symptoms like that of a common flu, and the outbreak has happened and the disease has started to spread in different parts of the world, it is just only normal for people to worry and think about safety. If you are one of those trying to learn how to avoid swine flu, here are simple things that you can do.

- Wash you hands everyday thoroughly with soap and water. Especially if you are coughing or sneezing, the virus can easily spread from person to person through sneezing or coughing and in simple contact with an infected person's hand. Aside from washing, you can also put alcohol or hand sanitizer to make it cleaner and free from the virus.

- Avoid touching your face with your hands. This will easily transmit the virus that you have in your hands. Using a disposable tissue is preferable when coughing or sneezing. If you don't have a tissue, sneeze on your elbow instead of your hands. You use your hands in picking and holding many things and thus may help spread the virus to your body.

- Wear a mask. If you want to stay protected especially in public places and if you don't mind wearing a mask, then do so. After all, it is about keeping yourself safe. However, you have to keep in mind that there are masks that can only give added shield but more expensive ones are also available that can help filter infections.

- Stay out of crowded places. One of the practical tips on how to avoid swine flu is to avoid crowded places. It is in these places that respiratory infections can spread easily, even though you wash your hands a hundred times each day if you are also getting yourself into crowded places, then you may get viral infection very easily. If you are working in a crowded place or you are constantly dealing with a lot of people at work everyday, then you might want to wear masks or get yourself a vaccination.

- Avoid or minimize traveling to other countries, especially to countries that have been affected with the swine flu virus. Even if you are traveling to other countries that do yet have swine flu infections, you will never know if you are safe to travel with other passengers in the plane and you will never know where they have been.

- Have yourself vaccinated. Although it might be a little expensive, one thing that you can do to totally protect yourself from swine flu virus is to get yourself vaccinated.

- boost your immune system. One of the important tips on how to avoid swine flu is to keep your body healthy. Switch to a healthier diet and help yourself build a strong immune system by taking in vitamins everyday.

Keep in mind that the symptoms of the swine flu virus is more like a common flu, thus if you are not feeling well and you feel like sick, you have to go check with the doctor. Do not go to work and avoid many people as possible.
