Cleanliness, it is constantly being shoved in our faces at every turn. When we walk down the street there are huge billboards telling us that we need to wash our hands, catch it, bin it, kill it, buy our new commercial cleaning products, which kills 99.9% of all bacteria. When we aren't out walking the streets it follows us, shouting at us down the radio to stay clean and make sure we don't create food on dirty work surfaces. So we turn the radio off and browse the internet to avoid the problematic adverts, surely the internet is free from adverts, sadly no.
Just when we have had enough, we get home at night and turn the television on and what is there? You guessed it, adverts for commercial cleaning products shoved in our faces once more. There is one question that needs to be answered though, and that is whether or not these commercial cleaning products have actually made our lives any better or are they simple weakening our immune systems to fight off germs that our body would otherwise deal with?
A germ is a tiny organism and in that sense it is obviously alive. Things that are alive can therefore evolve and they also follow the simplest path which is to survive at all costs. So if something comes along which threatens its existence then it will do whatever it needs to do to survive.
Bearing that last point in mind, all these commercial cleaning products threaten the existence of germs and therefore you have to ask yourself if these cleaning products that we use have actually in some way helped to contribute to the production of new germs that we have in the world today. I'm not saying for one moment that we should have these products or we shouldn't use them, but the extent that some people use these products is really crazy.
When I grew up back in the eighties we we're still clean, but we were allowed to play outside in the mud and mess, we cut ourselves, we got a few knocks and scrapes but at the end of the day, there was nothing wrong with us. We grew up healthy children. Of course we got ill, every child does, but I doubt we got as ill as the children of today.
Commercial cleaning products can really assist in the battle against germs, but we certainly shouldn't overuse them or become too reliant on them.
