Having a healthy body can have a serious impact on the way that you are able to function in day to day life. Saying that you want to be healthy and actually being healthy are two very different aspects of life.

It is important to realize that there are many life threatening conditions that can be avoided by making the change to a healthy lifestyle. If you choose to live a healthy lifestyle, you will be able to prevent many negative conditions.

If you have been informed that your blood pressure is too high, it is time to start making some changes in your life. If you do not want to suffer an early death that is completely avoidable, you have to be dedicated to being healthy.

The first place to start is your diet. If you are consuming a large amount of fatty and sugary foods you are bound to start having health problems.

Replacing the fatty and sugary foods in your diet with healthy foods may seem extremely overwhelming, but in reality it is not that hard. Before you can start eating healthy you have to know what foods are good for you.

We will discuss some of the most beneficial foods to eat. These are foods that you can substitute into your diet and know that you are eating healthily.

Replacing red meats or fatty meats with lean fish is always a good idea. Salmon is one of the best fish to eat.

Salmon is full of Omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon is also very versatile for cooking.

You can cook this fish with an appetizing rub or you can marinade it in your favorite flavor of marinade. You can also plan to cook extra salmon to use later for the topping of a salad or pasta.

Adding flaxseed to your cereal or smoothie in the morning is another easy tip to eating healthier. The flaxseed is full of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber and phytoestrogens.

You can barely taste the sprinkles of this food in your meals. Many people choose to enhance their yogurt, homemade muffins and even cookies with ground flaxseed.

If you are used to not having a breakfast, try to sit down and eat oatmeal in the morning. If you top your oatmeal with fresh berries you will be starting your day out in a healthy manner.

Oatmeal provides your body with omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, potassium, folate, niacin, calcium and even soluble fiber. The sugary oatmeal that comes in different flavors will not give you the same benefit as the natural oatmeal.

Eating black and kidney beans in soups or salads will give your meal added nutrients. B-complex vitamins, niacin, folate, magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, calcium and soluble fiber are all found inside black and kidney beans.

Almonds are another supplement that are very healthy. Almonds will give your body vitamin E, magnesium, fiber, heart favorable mono- and polyunsaturated fats and phytosterols.

There are many people that find it appetizing to mix some fresh berries with almonds and throw then in some yogurt, trail mix and even fruit salads. Buying the unsalted almonds will give you the best results.

Walnuts are another nut that will give you many favorable nutrients. Walnuts offer your body omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, magnesium, folate, fiber, mono- and polyunsaturated fats.

If you enjoy an alcoholic beverage with your meal, make it a red wine. A glass of red wine will help improve the HDL cholesterol level in your body.

Tuna is another fish that is high in omega-3 fatty acids, folate and niacin. Enjoying a lunch of salad greens, fresh fruit and canned tuna will not only fill you up but will also be very healthy.

Brown rice is full of niacin, folate, calcium, magnesium and potassium. If you make a bowl of brown rice with some grilled vegetables you will have a meal in only a few minutes.

Spinach is a very healthy alternative to iceberg lettuce. Iceberg lettuce does not have much of any nutritional value.

If you are going to make yourself a salad, you are going to want to make it with spinach. This leafy green will give your body Lutein, B-complex vitamins, folate, magnesium, potassium, calcium and fiber.

Asparagus is another vegetable that is excellent for your body. The beta-carotene and lutein, b-complex vitamins, folate and fiber all make for a heart healthy dish.

Asparagus makes a great side dish if you grill or steam it lightly and then put olive oil and lemon on top.
