Flu or influenza is characterized by respiratory infection and this is the reason why remedies for flu are given much importance these days. Flu is a highly contagious disease and even touching the objects that are used by people infected with influenza will make you contract the infection.

The main advantage with flu symptoms is that they can be easily detected. The main symptoms of flu are body aches, dry cough, chills, fever, sore throat, headache and stuffy nose. Keeping certain tips in mind can help you in preventing flu.

Getting a flu shot is the most important thing that can be done for avoiding the incidence of flu. You must also keep away from the people who are sneezing and coughing. Giving up smoking and drinking is also advised as these habits will make your immune system weak and thus make you more vulnerable to flu.
Washing your hands more often is also recommended as this reduces the risk of contracting the infection. Reduce the stress as it has been found that people who are stressed have more chances of getting infected. You must also make some small changes in your diet.

Avoiding dried food items and sweets may be the best thing to do. Getting exposed to chemicals and dust is also not advised. You may also make it a point not to expose yourself to sudden temperature changes.
As flu is highly contagious in nature, the infected person must stay at home until he/she is fully recovered. Liquids are good for health during the bed rest, as you may not feel like eating when you are not well. Soups, fruit juices and water can be great for regaining the health. Beetroots and carrots must also be taken either as foods or juices.

Humidifying the place where you are sleeping is also a good idea. This will help you in alleviating the discomfort of sore throat, cough and dry nasal passages. You must also take extra attention in ventilating the room as supply of fresh air can make a great difference in the condition of infected person especially in the recovering stage. You may also ask someone to rub your back as backrub can activate the immune system for fighting flu. Gargling with solution of salt and water is also advised as will wash out the secretions present in your throat. Taking one tablespoon of warm honey and lemon mixed together can offer you quick relief too. There are certain herbs that are being considered as great remedies for flu too.

Gargling with warm water that has one drop each of lemon and tea tree oil may also offer you great results. These are some among the most popular remedies for flu that can be of great help in getting of flu attacks.
