As your recovery period gets underway after having breast augmentation your breasts may look a little strange to you. They may also appear to be too high up on your chest or to feel firmer than what you expected them to be. None of these things are a cause for alarm. If you experience any of what has been described here then that does not mean that your surgery was not a success.

The firmness of your bosom is related to the type of implants that were placed inside your body. Another integral factor is the placement of said implants. Over time they will begin to look and feel more normal to you.

Many patients find that their breasts are too elevated following the surgical procedure but then drop to a lower and more normal position as the weeks pass. In time your new breasts will find their own true form and shape and settle down. This takes longer to happen for some patients than it does for others.

The plastic surgeon will deem it necessary for you to be fitted with a breast compression garment to wear while you are recovering. The garment is useful to bring down the swelling and may have to be tightened in order to accomplish this. This is a normal and healthy part of the post operative treatment. If you do experience a fair amount of swelling then there are other ways to minimize it. Some examples include reducing your sodium intake, being prescribed a drug by the doctor or alternative health remedies.

Some pain and discomfort is likely to result after having breast augmentation. It is also common for some discoloration to arise. Be aware that these are all a part of the recovery period and should not last for too lengthy a period of time. Your body is only just beginning to heal itself.

Having breast augmentation can pull and stretch the skin. This in turn can lead to breasts that become redder than normal and/or a burning sensation in the vicinity of the incision site can also make itself known. Some patients even notice a shiny look to their chests. Remind yourself that patience is needed to help you recuperate. Everyone heals at their own speed.

If breast augmentation has left you with any of these symptoms and they are very bothersome to you then there are moisturizers on the market that can bring some relief. It would be best to discuss this with the plastic surgeon however as he could then recommend a moisturizer that is best for your condition. It is important to note that regardless of what moisturizer you use, it cannot be applied on or anywhere in close proximity to the incisions.
