Many people in this country require health care. For some, it's because of an accident. Some require health management because their bodies are breaking down from old age, and some need health care because they've developed certain diseases. Then there are the mental health patients. If one didn't know better, they'd just tell these people to go to the doctor and get fixed up. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. Some people don't have the money to pay for the medications they need. They can't afford the insurance, or they're ineligible for insurance, and without insurance they just can't afford to get well. Something in this country needs to change so that everyone can get the health care they desperately need.
Baby Boomers
Baby Boomers are getting older by the day and soon they are going to require more health care than they've ever needed before. There are lots of Baby Boomers, and that means a lot of people are soon going to need serious health management. The body just deteriorates as it ages. An older person may need arthritis medicine, high blood pressure medicine, some may need surgery, and some may need all of the above and more. Many of these Baby Boomers looked forward to Social Security when they reached retirement age. The problem is that our country is quickly running out of money and there may not be enough Social Security to go around. That's going to leave a lot of Baby Boomers, and other aging Americans out in the cold. They're not going to get the health management they need, and that's a horrible thought.
Insurance
Insurance companies are in place to pay for most or all of your medical expenses. However, insurance companies are not a charity. They're a business. They are in the insurance business to make money, not to dole it out to every person who needs to see the doctor without seeing any returns. To ensure the insurance companies make the most profit, they become very picky about who they enroll. If a person has a previous medical condition, they are typically barred from applying. But what if the person is looking for insurance purely because they have a condition they recently found out about? That person is, as they say, out of luck.
Without insurance, the people who need medical attention aren't going to get it because they won't be able to afford it. Something needs to change in this country or else all the people who continue to get older will continue to get sicker and that's going to spell disaster any way you look at it.
Let's take care of our fellow Americans and get them the health care they deserve by reforming our current system or by completely overhauling it and making it affordable for everyone who needs it.
