Your house is one of your most precious assets but it gets more and more prone to fire with the presence of electricity, gases, and flammable liquids inside. In order to protect it, you need to have the right fire equipment available at all times. Aside from the house, you also want to protect the life of your loved ones against any disaster.

These days, statistics show that fire is one of the causes of major disasters around the world. This is due to the ever growing presence of hazardous materials such as explosives, corrosives, poisonous gas, and radioactive materials around us that when it gets ignited or reacts with other materials through heat humans, animals, and the whole environment will be at risk.

This disaster most of the time though is caused by one of humans commonly practiced fault, negligence. With the kind of life we have today, people tend to be busier than ever that they forget to inspect, think, and evaluate things that might lead to a disaster that would cause injuries or even death to those who are unfortunate. With this, we should be responsible enough to at least protect our own turf against this incident. People should prepare for these kinds of situation to be able to avoid casualties and be able to control the situation as soon as possible.

To be prepared one has to have the right fire extinguisher on hand when the situation calls for it. You need to know that there are different kinds of these equipments that should be bought depending on the types of materials you have around the house.

First type is called the water fire extinguishers which is the cheapest of its kind and should be used in areas where solid materials are present such as paper, wood, or plastic. This type is not very effective if the fire is caused by a liquid substance or by electricity.

Second type is the foam fire extinguishers which is a bit more expensive than the previous type but is more versatile. It is very effective in areas where there are a lot of solid materials and also in areas where fire is caused by liquid substances. This however is not recommended for electric caused fires but is safer to use on it than water.

Dry Powder fire extinguisher is the multi-purpose equipment since it is effective on fires caused by solids, liquids, and even by flammable gas.

The equipment that should be used for fires caused by electric is the CO2 fire extinguishers which is also effective in fires caused by flammable liquid substances.

Before you buy your fire extinguisher, make sure you have evaluated what kinds of materials would be a possible cause of fire in your house. This way you are assured that you will be able to control the fire just in case it happens in your place.
