Our Eyes Are A Gift

You and I both know that the eyes are responsible for giving us the gift of sight and are very important. They are extremely sensitive organs and really do not have much protection. Maybe as we evolve further a bulletproof shield will cover them but for now we are stuck with the eyelid, eyebrow and tears for protection. I strongly doubt we will ever have bulletproof eyes but it was worth a shot at humor. Maybe you needed a good laugh or are thinking right now 'Wow! This guy is lame.'. No matter.

Many things can cause our eyes to become irritated. Wind, bright lights, environmental toxins, seasonal allergies and environmental pollutants can all cause our eyes to suffer. The result is often red eyes, straining eyes, eye inflammation, itchiness or dry eyes.

Medical conditions, such as diabetes, can cause eye problems to develop without warning. In the case of diabetes, glaucoma is often the unwanted result. Infections can also cause problems with the eyes such as with conjunctivitis and episcleritis. This one might blow your mind. Eye problems can be caused by STD's (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) like herpes and genital warts. This only occurs when the eye contacts the area of infection.

As we age we become more susceptible to eye problems like cataracts, macular degeneration, floaters and bitot's spots. Some of these are unavoidable but if they are caught early enough their progress can be slowed down.

In the case of eye problems it is always best to address the problem before it gets too bad. This is where herbs come into play. They can help you to avoid future problems by giving your eyes the support they need. Bilberry is one of the most popular and helps to keep the capillaries strong and helps to keep the delivery of oxygen and nutrients at a maximum.

Roobios and Sutherlandia Frutescens are great at fighting off free radicals and supporting homeostasis in the body. Therefore, they both are great at supporting healthy eyes. When you go to buy your herbs make sure the company guarantees they use the full spectrum extraction method. This is very important because lower quality herbs will not offer near the same results.

Make sure that you see your eye doctor once a year. If you have a medical condition, such as diabetes, you might need to visit the eye doctor twice a year. As I said earlier, the best cure for eye problems is prevention. Once these problems get a full head of steam you might be out of luck, completely. Take care of your eyes and they will take care of you!
