It's been a while since I have had a chiropractic adjustment, and I think I am about due for a visit. I've been reading and trying to educate myself more about my own health and wellness, and there are a lot of things that I want to try to improve my overall situation, and regular chiropractic care is a part of my long term strategy. I work out at the gym quite a bit, and I know from past experience that a chiropractic visit can help relieve muscle tension, assist in the recovery of both muscle and tendon strain, and help increase flexibility.
The first time I went to a chiropractor was on the recommendation of a holistic health practitioner. She was in town lecturing on the health benefits of regular colonic treatments, and while the information was interesting, it is something that I have yet to try. As part of her presentation, she talked about the psychological and physiological benefits of massage and chiropractic treatments, and that was something I found far more attractive than the thought of receiving a colonic. She recommended a local chiropractor who she had worked with for several years, and so after her presentation, I got his information and scheduled a visit.
At the visit, I was really impressed with the care and treatment I received. I was surprised to see the array of apparatuses and devices used to provide the care; everything from vibrating bed pads to spring-loaded adjustment tables. It almost looked like something out of a steampunk movie. In any case, several of these tools were used to measure and gauge my spinal column and determine where the most care should be focused. I was there a couple of hours, and I heard some things crack and pop that I didn't know would actually do that, but I felt a difference almost immediately, and I really did feel better for several weeks.
I've been to the chiropractor off and on over the past several years, and I really think it's time to go back and start seeing one on a regular basis. Chiropractic care is now covered by most insurance policies, and even if you don't have insurance, many chiropractors are willing to work with their clients on a payment plan that is fair and affordable. In any case, affordable and beneficial chiropractic care is within my reach, and I intend to make the most of it.
