What the specialists define as self hypnosis is a state which naturally generated and which implies a very high degree of concentration or trance and during which one can easily follow orders or instructions.
Hypnosis is not that hard to induce; all you need is a quiet room and a relaxed position, on a chair or bed. A very important detail is that you do not allowed to cross any of the parts of your body because this might generate lack of comfort and an inevitable gap in the process of being hypnotoized.
You can not be disturbed for at least thirty minutes. While keeping your eyes shut, try to liberate your mind from any thoughts, images, fears or ideas. Observe them instead of shooing them away, then let them go. Feel the tension in every part of your body, then imagine it centers in one spot from which it releases. You might find it easier to bring a relaxing image or sound in your head while your body is relaxing, to ease the process.
Acknowledge your breath. Picture yourself inhaling peace, serenity and exhaling the tension, nervousness and negativity. Feel your body while it gets more and more relaxed and imagine it becoming light, almost imponderable. Continue breathing rhythmically.
A wide spread hypnosis techniques requires that you should picture yourself on top of a five stairs ladder at the end of which there is a deep water you will submerge into. Feel you are floating. In this state of complete relaxation, the process of hypnosis is at its highest effectiveness. Ask yourself questions about the main problems you might be facing and listen carefully to your own answers.
When you feel you have completed the questioning process, you might want to repeat to yourself encouraging sentences if you generally feel unmotivated; swim back and climb the steps until you sense the weight building back in your body; repeat to yourself "I am awake" a few times. Hypnosis is known to be effective in tension relief and self motivation but it must be practiced with a deep awareness to avoid losing yourself in the state of deep meditation.
