Aggression is a type of behavior that is both impulsive and unpredictable. While someone is going through this type of mood swing they are prone to becoming angry and capable of physical harm. Aggression can be shown either verbally or physically.

An aggressive person will likely damage things or have fits and throw things around. Verbal abuse is often a trademark of aggression. They will yell threats, swear and try to intimidate people. More times than not the aggressive individual feels they are being provoked by something inside of him/her or something another person has done.

Aggressive episodes can be either short or last for a long time. This depends on the individual since one person might not be as aggressive as the next.

Aggression is not always intentional. A mental or behaviorial disorder often lead's to aggressive behavior. Bipolar disorder, ADHD, tourettes syndrome and post traumatic stress disorders are all disorders that can lead to aggressive behavior. Aggression can be a result of drug or alcohol abuse, genetics, sex abuse, keeping a weapon (such as a gun) at home or socioeconomic factors (ie. single parent or poverty). If someone is showing aggression then it is very likely that they are dealing with deep emotional problems.

Aggressive behavior is not easily diagnosed. To discover what is causing it the doctor will have to do a medical history check for other illnesses such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders or depression. There is a good chance of being referred to a psychiactrist or psychologist.

Aggressive behavior is not normally the ailment that is treated. The treatment is aimed at what the underlying problem is. Medications can be used for most mental disorders, such as bipolar disorder or ADHD. Along with the medication intense counseling might be in necessary. Relaxion techniques can also help to stop aggressive episodes before they happen. Meditation and deep breathing techniques can go a long way in helping someone avoid a nasty situation. Anger management therapy is often beneficial to those suffering from aggressive behavior.

Natural remedies are being used by more people than ever to help stop aggressive behavior. They are easy to use and don't have the side effects that prescription medications have. Chamomilla, nux vom and lycopodium are wonderful herbs for helping to keep your body and mind in a calm state. These herbs also can help you be less irritable, frustrated and nervous. Try a search on the internet for a retailer that carries these products. There are also many tinctures that are geared specifically for helping to stop aggressive behavior.
