Even people with fine hair can now get the long thick voluptuous style they've been craving as there's a massive market for hair extensions these days. However it can get a bit too much to maintain with hectic life styles kicking in.

Long, coarse hair needs the cuticle to be smoothed to look healthy. Hair Straighteners are normally the best way to go, but a good blow dry prior to that can stimulate the hair and will make it last a lot longer.

After applying your chosen styling products, experience tells us that the best way to get a firm blow dry without it taking forever is to rough dry all the hair off first, leaving about 10% still damp.

Then, with a large round brush section the hair from the bottom and smooth it through with the brush underneath. This will ensure all the hair is dry and make sure any applied product is spread equally throughout the hair. Also, it will help to smooth out the cuticle from root to point.

This means that half the battle is won before the hair straighteners have even been turned on! Doing this should significantly reduce the time it takes to straighten and style the hair.

As the cuticle has already been smoothed with the blow dry, the hair straighteners are just needed to smooth out any kinks, meaning that the same section of hair should not need going over more than twice with the straighteners, this can lead to damaged and split mid-lengths and ends.
For long fine hair the same applies, except that more volume may also be required.

By taking out about 50% of the wetness with the head tilted upside down, there will already be some root lift when it comes to put the hair back in its place.
Then by sectioning up the hair, starting again at the bottom a large round brush is required to get right under at the roots. The hair can then be pulled upwards and outwards with the hair dryer to gain extra lift at the roots.

A high quality large brush is very effective for blow drying long hair, as it usually incorporates an attachable pin to help section up the hair. From a styling point of view, this can be very handy. The soft bristles will stop the cuticle from tearing and the soft fluted handle will allow a firm grip making it easier to use. If it's coarse hair that requires smoothing or fine hair that needs volume the use of a large round brush and the right styling products can help get the look you require with your long hair.
