Are you wondering if its the right time for you to start getting into a good cardio workout routine? There are so many reasons to get started, the most important thing is to ensure you are doing something that is fun, and that is safe for you to do. Don't sell yourself short by making excuses as to why you can't get started on a cardio workout, and don't fool yourself into thinking that cardio is boring.

There are so many activities out there that are fun and exciting, and are completely different from the traditional cardio workouts of the past. Getting yourself started on a cardio workout has really never been easier. It doesn't take a lot of time or money, doesn't require a gym membership or a personal trainer. There are a number of ways to get a solid cardio workout done at home.

If you have been inactive for longer than a few months, it is a good idea to first consult with your doctor to ensure that you are good to go ahead of time. If it has been a number of years that you have been inactive, leading a sedentary lifestyle, it is imperative that you consult your physician first, and then first prepare yourself for a few weeks by doing small bits of exercise, such as daily walks at a brisk pace, doing gardening, etc. It is important to remember that any movement is better than none at all. The body is adaptable, and once your body adjusts to the light activity, you can step it up and get yourself into another, more challenging activity. You will know you are not being challenged enough if your heart rate doesn't elevate or if you don't begin to sweat after 5 or 10 minutes.

If you are putting off getting yourself an activity its probably because you are already aware of the positive effects but just don't have that motivation to get started. That means its time to find your motivation. Write out some goals for yourself, then ask yourself what steps you will take each day to get there. The truth is, if you found an activity you actually enjoyed, then getting started wouldn't feel like a chore at all. Working out is something you should look forward to. Do yourself a favor and take the time to research what you could do that you, personally would find interesting and fun. That in itself can be motivating on a daily basis.

Cardio workouts are known to be the cause of fat burning, and to increase aerobic capacity. This means improving how "in shape" you are when it comes to endurance of an activity. Are you able to last long in the pool or on the court or field once you get started? Incorporating a cardio workout 3 or 4 days a week to your schedule will improve endurance, general health, burn fat for energy, and also improve energy levels.
