Millions of kids in the United States alone wet the bed. A nocturnal sleep disorder like bedwetting is said to actually result from stress, fatigue, and sometimes, behavioral issues; however, the most common culprit pinpoints to genetics. If a parent, an uncle, a grandparent, and so on has a history of wetting the bed, then, there is a chance that you'll inherit the said condition.

If you or a loved one suffers from bed-wetting, then, treatment for bedwetting must be done. For your doctor to be able to give the best form of treatment, though, he or she would first have to find out which factors bring about your bed-wetting episodes.

The following are some of the most common bed wetting causes, aside from the ones mentioned previously:

1. An underdeveloped bladder

Many kids who suffer from the nocturnal sleep disorder of bed-wetting may actually have underdeveloped bladders. Those types of bladders are usually not big enough to hold urine while the children are sleeping, which, more often than not, makes the kids wet the bed during bedtime.

There is also a possibility that the nerves responsible for controlling the bed wetter's bladder has not matured fully yet, and so, the person isn't able to wake at night when the bladder is full, thus, bedwetting occurs.

2. Insufficient hormone production

One of the usual bed wetting causes is a hormonal imbalance in bed-wetting kids. If ADH or anti-diuretic hormone is not produced in the right amounts, people experience faster urine production at night.

3. An infection in the urinary tract

If someone develops UTI, or urinary tract infection, that can actually trigger him or her to wet the bed. This is because people with UTI find it difficult to control urination at times.

4. Stressful situations

The above mentioned nocturnal sleep disorder is also said to be a result of stressful experiences. For instance, if a kid transfers to another school, becomes aware of his or her parents' plan to divorce, and the likes, he or she has a bigger chance of experiencing bedwetting.

In reality, there are still other bed wetting causes. It is but normal to find it quite difficult to truly pinpoint which of those factors actually triggered your child or your loved one to wet the bed. What's more important than determining the actual culprit, however, is to instantly seek treatment for bedwetting from a specialist.
