Wetting the bed at night, also called nocturnal enuresis, is normal in babies and kids up to seven years of age. If your kid wets the bed at an older age, however, that may be the time you should seek the help of a physician, and ask about the cure for bedwetting.

Prior to asking about solutions for bed wetting, it is recommended that you first have an idea of why bed-wetting happens. Though there are no exact causes determined at present, there are a number of factors that are said to trigger nocturnal enuresis: sleep apnea, or having difficulty breathing when sleeping, insufficient anti diuretic hormones secreted, urinary tract problems, a history of bed-wetting in your family tree, and so on.

If you notice your child wetting the bed out of the blue, or even if he or she is older than seven years of age, or your child complains of painful urination, then, it is a must for you to consult your child's pediatrician.

The cure for bedwetting does not only depend on medical treatments. It is also important for you as a parent, as well as other family members to understand what the bed wetter is going through. You and other family members should show your kid how much you care for and support him or her. Here are some solutions for bed wetting that usually work:

1. Remind your son or daughter not to drink fluids right before going to sleep.

One cure for bedwetting is the avoidance of liquid intake right before bedtime. In the event that your bed-wetting child becomes thirsty while in bed, it is okay to let your kid drink a glass of water, but, you should ensure that he or she urinates in the bathroom first before you allow your precious one to go to sleep. By doing the said tip every night, you can expect an improvement.

2. Utilize a bedwetting alarm clock.

Nowadays, some solutions for bed wetting come in the form of alarm clocks. A bedwetting alarm clock is battery-operated, and can be placed near someone who wets the bed. The said clock actually has sensors that go off as soon as it senses that your kid needs to pass urine. Of course, your child will wake as soon as the alarm sounds off, helping your little one avoid wetting the bed, as he or she, instead, goes to the toilet to pass urine.

The said cure for bedwetting, by the way, can be purchased at most drugstores and medical supply shops even without a doctor's prescription.

If the above-mentioned solutions for bed wetting do not work that well -- your child's doctor will surely prescribe a more aggressive cure for bedwetting. Of course, as a parent, you may want to try natural bed wetting cures before seeking help from the hospital. If those remedies do not work, the doctor's advice is a necessity.

Remember: It is best to combine bed-wetting treatment with love and support from the bed wetter's family for the faster recovery of the person who wets the bed.
