Bulimia and anorexia are disorders that relate to eating that are not that easy to cure. The eating disorder causes, specifically the causes of bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa disorder are said to be really similar.

Why is it quite complicated to treat the said conditions? Most eating disorders information will share with you that most of the people who become anorexic or bulimic actually feel that the actions they are taking are not really harmful. In fact, they think of binge eating, self-starvation, as well as purging as ways by which they can solve their problems.

Here are the common triggers of anorexia and bulimia:

1. Major life events

A lot of patients who suffer from the above mentioned conditions actually go through major life changes that they can't seem to accept. Most anorexics and bulimics, in fact, love familiar things, and once major changes are made, e.g. transferring to another school, death of a loved one, etc, they begin to feel that control is slipping from their hands, thus, they resort to bingeing, purging, and so on.

2. Trouble in the family

A problem within the family is also considered as one of the eating disorder causes. If a parent lets a teen know his or her imperfections and the child suddenly loses self confidence, there is a tendency for that teen-ager to have anorexia nervosa disorder. Children who may not have close relationships with their parents, and would want to refrain from being 'like' them may also experience the regression of bulimia or anorexia. People who may also want to show control may decide to 'take control of their eating', but may do so negatively.

Common eating disorders information also mentions that the eating patterns in your family can be one of the eating disorder causes. How? For instance, kids who have parents who frequently diet, or children who are pushed by their parents to maintain slim bodies, are usually the ones who start having eating disorders.

3. Failures

One of the causes of bulimia nervosa or one of the triggers of anorexia is failure. A person who is a perfectionist, then, suddenly loses in a competition, or does not get a promotion -- in other words, experiences failure, has an increased chance of getting the so called anorexia nervosa disorder or bulimia nervosa.

Low self esteem, which is at times connected to failure, is also considered part of eating disorder causes. A person with low self-esteem may want to try to change their image, and so, he or she decides to lose a lot of weight, and does it in an unhealthy way. Other people who have feelings of self worthlessness, on the other hand, may resort to bingeing as a means of escape, which may eventually lead to the conditions mentioned previously.

Getting basic eating disorders information and learning about eating disorder causes is the first step in getting help for anorexic people. Remember that there is still hope for individuals with anorexia nervosa disorder, or those who are bulimic.
