Tempo has been a much neglected area when it comes to bodybuilding.

Many lifters care less about how they lift weights. They just want to go ahead with the job for the time being. This leaves the task of maintaining tempo to the threshold of the muscles. This may work for some people but not in others. It matters a lot how much you can lift but it also matters for how long you can lift it. The amount of time you can stay lifting one weight tells about your tempo. Making right kind of show should not overshadow the need for the underlying need for a preset tempo that you can always adhere to.

Many specialists advice on a low tempo but sometimes, this appears to yield impatience and loss of ego. It happens this way but this is the best thing to happen to your muscles. Control your muscles and make the movements slow and very controlled.

Momentum increases when you train and this beats the purpose of your bodybuilding ambitions. It is better to lift a lighter weight at a slower pace than embarking on a heavier weight which will force you to increase the momentum at the expense of smooth deliberate movements and this hinders the development of well-built muscles.

When you increase your tempo, you run the risk of irregular movements which ultimately may lead to injuries. The best way to maintain tempo is counting. You have to devise a formula that will put into consideration the amount of energy you expend, the efforts you put in, the amount of weight you are lifting and the progress you are aiming at. If one of these factors is hard to incorporate, you have no reason to worry. You can always make changes in emphasis. This is far much better than if you just arrived at your favorite gym after work to find that your colleagues are competing on weightlifting speed and you foolishly join in the competition.

What you may not know at that time is that there is a set tempo that no one should violate. In essence, they are competing on who can complete the moves faster. The tempo they are using now may differ when they come back tomorrow. This is how they have planned to incorporate high tempo and progress in weightlifting.

There must be a wise plan that helps you count tempo in terms of progress. In terms of the example of the competition example I have just given, it is clear that it is hard for such people to avoid success. They are learning how to mix all the aforementioned factors of tempo-building by way of getting to know what lies ahead and what greater challenges lie in the way. Switch your tempo as regularly as you can be in command of the situation and don't let your routines be interrupted by sideshows.

Many advisers come up with many things which they have found very interesting. If they happen to have been endowed with muscles, you will find their stories worth lending an ear.
