Many people actually have tonsilloliths, or tonsil stones, yet may not be aware that they have the said mouth bacteria infection. A tonsillolith is not to be left untreated as it is a cause of bad breath, problems in swallowing, and the likes. Stones in tonsils are usually formed from the accumulation of bacteria, mucus, food particles, and dead cells, at the back of your throat. They actually look like white stones and should be taken out either naturally, or through doctor recommended treatments.

Here are common tonsil stones symptoms that you have to be aware of:

1. Halitosis

Halitosis, or foul breath, is one of the indicators that a person has tonsilloliths. Compared to other bad breath problems, the halitosis that results from the above mentioned bacterial infection is much worse -- you yourself can even smell the problem. You can try masking the odor with mints or mouth rinses, however, that wouldn't last for long because of the rotten smell that the accumulated mucus, bacteria, etc, produces.

Of course, when the so called tonsillolith is the cause of bad breath, as soon as you use a good tonsil stone cure, you'll notice your bad mouth odor problem fading away.

2. Severe coughing

Chronic coughing is one of the most common tonsil stones symptoms. There is, however, no pain at all that's felt when you cough because of a tonsillolith, compared to coughing because of influenza, the common cold, and so on. A person who suffers from foul smelling breath and regularly coughs at the same time is someone who may be suffering from the above-mentioned mouth bacteria infection.

3. Having difficulties whenever you're swallowing

If you're finding it difficult to swallow, whether it's food that you're swallowing or just liquids, then, there is a possibility that you're displaying tonsil stones symptoms. Of course, that swallowing difficulty has to be accompanied by other signs of a tonsil stone such as a ticklish sensation in the throat, the feeling of soreness in the throat, etc, before you can be considered as a tonsilloliths patient. Remember too that a tonsillolith formation may not only be a cause of bad breath, but can also bring about ear aches, a bitter taste in the mouth, among others.

Once you observe that you are experiencing tonsil stones symptoms, it is best to head to the hospital immediately where a physician can examine you and help you find the appropriate tonsil stone cure that will work best for you.
