Excercise: It prevents Kidney Stones

What's the most painful ailment or disease in the world? I'm sure that it's debatable and arguable all over, but I would make a suggestion that nothing hurts worse than kidney stones.

And what prevents this horrible ailment? Some good 'ole exercise and weight lifting.

My third semester in college, I was struck with the horrible pain of a Kidney Stone. As I sat in my math class, a sharp pain in my lower back started to increase to the point that I couldn't bare it.

I excused myself from the classroom and paced the halls, wondering what was wrong with my body. Did my appendix burst? Spleen explode? Did I have testicular Cancer?

All these thoughts (and many more) went through my mind as I tried to handle the indescribable pain. I decided I needed to drive myself to the hospital, and I nearly collapsed on my way.

I rushed to the hospital employee behind the ER desk and quickly listed off my symptoms. After telling me to calm down, they asked me to fill out some paperwork and take a seat.

When the Doctor finally saw me, he looked at me for 3 seconds and told me I had Kidney Stones. "What?!" I thought, "How can someone as young as I get Kidney stones?"

The Doctor prescribed me some pain meds and sent me on my way. He told me I'd pass the stone sooner or later.

When I eventually passed the stone, I returned to the Doctor's for a check-up visit. I begged and pleaded to know what I could do to help prevent my body from ever going through such excruciating pain.

"You need to lift weights and exercise" was the Doctor's simple orders. I needed to exercise more.

Apparently the calcium deposits in my kidney's built up so much that they formed little stones. If I exercised more, that calcium would go to my bones rather than my kidneys.

Lifting weights and staying active is key. The more slender you are, the better.

Had I known this before, I would have been lifting weights (or using something like Nordic Track or Health Rider) every day.

Kidney Stones are considered one of the most highly problematic and painful ailments in the world. Many consider more painful than giving birth to a child (and the reward at the end is much...much worse).

The stones can be as big as a golf ball or as small as a grain of sand. It doesn't make a difference the size, because the symptoms are still the same.

When I finally passed my stone, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders (and out of my body). But I would soon apply more weight as I went to hit the gym.

I convinced my girlfriend at the time to get a membership at the local gym. She reluctantly agreed, but knew that this was something hugely important to me.

As I began to exercise more and more, I loved the way it made me feel. I felt so much more energy in my life.

Consistent healthy workouts can be both physcially and mentally helpful. Knowing that I was working out my body and doing everything I could to stay healthy made me happy.

Working out can not only make you happy, but can also help fight depression. Believe me, nothing is more depressing than getting Kidney Stone.

Now, I can't guarantee (nor can my Doctor) that I will never get a Kidney Stone again because I am working out. But the chances are a lot less likely.

There are many other suggestions and ideas to prevent Kidney Stones, but nothing is as effective as a good work out. Lifting weights might be hard, but it's a lot easier than passing a Kidney Stone.

Trust me, you don't want a Kidney Stone(s). The benefits of working out and staying healthy are so good, there is no reason not to do it.

So if nothing else, go work out to at least prevent experiencing one of the most painful ailments in the world. It's worth it!
