Finding a good Dentist for you and your family begins with some homework. Once you've narrowed the field, you call them up and ask several important questions. We discussed these in detail in previous articles. Next, how do you know whether or not your prospective Dentist is good at what she does? Ask him or her. Will they share testimonials? Again, all you need to do is ask. This article goes further into the details. (2) Do you have testimonials from current patients who are satisfied and enjoy their experience with you?
How do I know I'll like my experience if I come to your office?
If you are looking to have aesthetic or cosmetic work done, ask to see before and after pictures of actual patients from the office.
Do you offer warranties or guarantees? When you buy a washer or dryer, you also receive a warranty to replace it if it breaks down within a certain time period. Many Dentists guarantee procedures -- if a filling or crown falls off, it's replaced at no extra charge.
What will you do to insure that every visit will be anxiety and pain-free? Many patients come nervous and scared, dreading a painful experience. Modern dentistry offers many techniques for pain-free visits, including general and local anesthetics, painless lasers to detect cavities where x-rays can't and CEREC, a technology that makes a crown in 10 minutes, fitted in your mouth in one visit -- no second visit, no messy impressions, no temporaries to wear.

What's important is that you feel you are in control of what's happening, and that you know that if you feel pain that the Dentist will not continue. The most important thing is for you to understand that you and the Dentist are in this together to get you the best results possible, in the most comfortable pain-free way.
