Over time a person's vision changes, so it is best to make you get the right one for best results. Once the exam is complete and the prescription is verified, it is time to choose new frames. Some people tend to stick with the same style all the time, others like to change things up.
Most optometrists will have a wide variety of frames to choose from. They will have some frames in all different price ranges to suit the needs of most of the people who visit their shop. Some might have more of a selection than others. If you go to a higher end shop you can even get frames just like those worn by celebrities that you might admire.
For many people the visit, and possibly the glasses as well, will be covered by their insurance. This can be a real benefit for those who need to make regular visits to the optometrist, as the cost of glasses can really add up.

However, keep in mind that the optometrist can't deal with all types of eye problems. They can deal with prescriptions for glasses and contacts, but not with things like LASIK surgery, as these will require you to visit a specialist. Any type of surgery requires this, including those for cataracts.
