In this modern world, with all the modern technology, an effective cure for flu has not been developed yet. It will still go down to having a good immune system to enable your body to battle it in case you get infected. Due to this it is best that we focus our efforts in preventing it from infecting us rather than treatment. If you are able to prevent flu it means that you will not go through miserable days with its symptoms. Avoiding flu is actually pretty simple and it boils down to basic sensible healthy practices.

It is important to note that flu virus attacks our immune system. Therefore strengthening our immune system is one of our best defenses against the virus.
Every year there are certain months that flu gets rampant. In response to this there are flu vaccines being released each year to help prevent the onset of the disease. Getting vaccinated with it is a good investment. It does not cost much and it will protect you from the flu virus. If you are afraid of needles then this is the time you get to choose between the needles and the common symptoms of flu.

Having vaccinated though would not be enough to prevent flu. It should be noted that there are more than one type of virus that causes flu. Because of this we need to supplement the vaccine with other healthy practices to prevent the virus from infecting us.

Wash your hands regularly with an antibacterial soap. Washing your hands properly means that you need to rub your hands together with the soap within an appropriate amount of time. To give you an idea, you should only stop washing your hands after singing the "happy birthday" song twice. Flu virus gets transmitted through air but it is more infectious with direct contact. Therefore take note to wash your hands before you eat as well as before touching your eyes and ears.

Supplement your immune system by taking enough vitamins each day. Make sure your multivitamin supplement contains large doses of Vitamin C since it is a known virus killer. You should also eat a balanced diet. Eating too much salty and fatty food will bring down your immunity level giving the virus an opportunity to infect you. The right diet will boost up your immune system and fight off any kinds of infections.

Exercising regularly will also help build your immune system to fight against the flu virus. Do not overdo it though since it could very well be the cause of your immunity to go down.

Getting enough rest is also an effective way to prevent flu. Sleep at least 8 hours per day to strengthen your immune system. Giving your body enough time to rejuvenate will help your immunity attain good condition to block viruses from infecting you.
