Letting Your Exercise Bike Take Charge

There are a lot of differences between working out on a bike outside and working out on an exercise bike indoors. No matter how you choose to workout, you have to make sure that you are safe while you are on the bike.

First and foremost, you have to make sure that you take the time to properly stretch all of your muscles before you hop onto the bike. When you are first getting into biking you should expect to be very sore.

You can minimize the amount of soreness you will feel by taking the time to get a good stretch in before and after you ride on the bike. As you are stretching you will want to make sure that you get all of the main muscles groups.

Your legs will obviously need to be stretched a lot before you sit on the bike to start riding. Your quads and your hamstrings will are very obvious muscles to stretch before you start any type of workout.

When you are on a bike, you would be surprised at how many times your calf may start to cramp up. Many people do not understand the importance of stretching the calves, especially before they hop onto a bicycle.

When you are on your outdoor bike or your exercise bike the way that you push the pedal will have a great affect on what muscles you are working. Taking the time to assess where you are getting sore and how you are pedaling is a great idea.

After you have found where you are getting sore you may want to pinpoint the exercise that made the muscles sore. After you have strengthened these muscles you will want to make sure and take the time to find other ways to strengthen new muscles.

Some bike shops will help you in this regard. They will be able to tell you which muscles are being worked and how you can work a new set of muscles.

When you are first riding on a bike, it is very easy to get discouraged or even bored throughout the course of the race. If you feel that you are getting discouraged or bored, recognize the feeling and do something about it.

You will want to start by assessing your current or writing down your new goals. There are a lot of riders that have never written down goals and look back later in their career and wish they would have started the habit early.

If you are able to start the habit early of setting goals that you can attain, you will be able to make strides in what seems like an impossible race. This means, that you have to make sure your goals are actually reasonable and attainable.

Exercising on a stationary bike can be frustrating because some of the goals you would set outside you cannot set inside. There are many other ways to distract yourself from the hard workout you are putting in.

First, there are a lot of people that choose to read books or magazines while they are on the exercise bikes. You will be able to kill two stones at one time here if you are able to continue to ride hard and read at the same time.

Some people think that reading while they are on a bike is just too difficult, even if the bike is not moving. If you think that you will not be able to read on the bike you can always make a good play list on your mp3 player.

When you make a play list, you want to make sure that you know the songs that you are working out to. This will ensure that the tempo is high and the music is loud to keep you going when you do not feel like you can.

There are lot of people that will turn the music up so high they cannot hear themselves breathing or panting for breath. When you turn the music up this high you have to make sure that you are aware o the people around you.

Taking the time to get to know yourself and your body will be well worth it in the long run. Not only will you begin to notice physical changes but you will also be able to have a clearer, better state of mind.

No matter what, you have to make sure that you are exercising enough to make a difference and reaching the goals that you set at the beginning of the semester.
