If you have noticed that you are suffering from halitosis or bad breath then you may feel very embarrassed. Though often not a serious medical condition it can nevertheless lower self esteem and self confidence especially if you are the kind of person that likes to socialize on a regular basis. If this is the situation then you may be in search of a bad breath treatment that would help to remove the problem once and for all.

The following suggestions should help you clear up the problem and leave your breath smelling natural and fresh.

To start with you will need to step up your oral hygiene. The cause of bad breath is usually bacteria in the oral cavity. There are good reasons why we are told to brush our teeth twice a day, this helps to stop the build up of plaque and bacteria around the teeth and gums which can be a major cause of halitosis. Make sure you clean every tooth, front and back, and use a circular motion when brushing.

Have you ever used a tongue scraper? This is a small implement that can be used to remove bacteria that live in small pores in the tongue. If you are going to take this approach then do not be too rough, you do not want to irritate your tongue or cause it to bleed.

You can reduce the extent of bad breath by regularly rinsing your mouth out with salt water. This would help to minimize the chance of infections and also bring down the amount of bacteria that is present. There are also over the counter mouthwash products that have the same effect.

Diet plays a big roll in oral hygiene. If you smoke, drink alcohol, and eat a lot of unhealthy foods then the chance of halitosis would be increased considerably. Dairy and red meat is also known to cause halitosis if consumed on a daily basis. Maintain a healthy diet and this will have a dramatic impact on your overall well being as well as the extent and frequency of bad breath.

How much water do you drink each day? Most of us simply do not keep ourselves adequately hydrated. Consuming tea and coffee does not help in this regard as they are both diuretic substances. Make sure you have at least a litre of fresh clean water daily and if possible more.
