When you are thinking about buying your own home exercise equipment, it can be a tricky to find the best deal, with so many options at the click of a mouse. Every fitness website will claim their product is the best, and that you will not find a better price.

However, don't be taken in by their guarantees, or sales. With a purchase this large and long term, you want to make sure that you are getting the quality piece of equipment that will last.

Don't get drawn in by prices that seem too good to be true-chances are, they are! When it comes to treadmills, cheaper is not necessarily better.

The first thing you should look for, is the efficiency of the motor. You will know that your motor is too good to be true if they are trying to sell you on the fact that is has a great "peak duty" horsepower.

This is not the most important part of your motor. The most important factor is the "continuous duty" horsepower.

This is what will ensure that your motor is going to last for many years without simply wearing out. You should insist on having a continuous horse power of at least two.

Next, if you do not feel enough cushion under the belt, this will irritate your joints and muscles down the line, and can even create bone spurs. This is one area where you will not want to cut costs.

Test out several different brands and models, and feel the difference in cushion. When it comes down to it, the more comfortable your treadmill is, the more you will want to use it.

Find out what the best thickness of quality of cushion is beforehand, so the sellers will know that you know exactly what quality is, and what you want. You joints deserve the best kind of protection.

The number of features available is also very important. You may find a treadmill that is hundreds of dollars cheaper, but does not have nearly the number or quality of programs.

Programs are a great way to keep your momentum, help you lose weight, and keep you interested in your workout. Your equipment should come standard equipped with about fifteen different specially designed programs.

Also, you will know your treadmill is on the cheaper side of quality if the ramp does not move up and down. Inclination is a vital part of your workout, and a piece that does not cater to this need is not worth your time.

Check to see exactly how the incline works-it should be fast and efficient, and not make any loud or obnoxious noise. This is another reason why a strong motor is absolutely essential-it takes a good amount of motor power to operate the incline while you are walking on it.

Your incline should naturally go to a very high level, and back down again in a matter of seconds. If it only raises slightly, this is not a quality piece of equipment.

Try out the piece of equipment in the store if you can. If there is any kind of squeaking, jerking, bumping, or knocking, don't buy it.

Your treadmill should be completely smooth, quiet, and effective. Any kind of noises which develop afterward should be inspected-cleaning can be an easy solution, as dust and gunk can accumulate in your motor and other equipment.

If after cleaning your piece it is still making jolts or sounds, call the store where you bought it and take advantage of your warranty. This leads to the last important step:

Be sure to fully explore the warranty. This is another way that companies will try to cut costs and take advantage of you.

A warranty is very important in case anything goes wrong with your machine. You want at least a five year warranty, as it take a few years to start noticing any kind of degeneration.

Make sure that your warranty is completely comprehensive, and will include every kind of damage, repairs, or even replacement. You motor, belt, and electronic equipment should all be included.

When it comes to shopping for that treadmill, don't cut costs at the expense of quality. Follow these simple guidelines, and you will be prepared to get the piece of quality equipment you deserve!
