There are a lot of people that buy an elliptical machine and think that is all they are going to need in order to accomplish their fitness goals. Although your machine will help you on your way to accomplish your goals it is only one piece of the puzzle.

First, you have to make sure that when you spend time on your elliptical that you make every minute count. When you are on your machine you want to keep your heart rate up and your muscles working.

If you are not pushing yourself and exerting energy while you are on the machine it is easy for you to fall into a state of stagnancy. This is the most common reason that people find themselves not seeing results from their workout.

You have ot make sure that you are working your muscles hard instead of just keeping them in the same state. To move to a new level of fitness and to increase muscle mass or burn fat you have to make sure that you put yourself in uncomfortable situations.

Knowing your body's limits is going to make a big difference as you are trying to accomplish your goal. Although you have to make sure that you are pushing yourself to a new level, you should never push your body to the point of injury.

For some people the line between injury and discomfort is very thin. Getting to know your body will make all of the difference when you are on the elliptical machine.

You have to realize that not only are going to have to make sure each workout session on your elliptical counts but you are also going to have to change your diet. It is easy to get into bad eating habits when you are exercising consistently.

Taking the time to plan your meals and only eat when you are hungry will have a huge affect on your results. If you are trying to lose weight or even see more muscle, you will need to change your eating habits.

First, you should make sure that you are eating breakfast. Many people think that if they are going to lose weight they only have to cut down on the number of calories or the grams of fat that they are eating in a day.

Although it is beneficial to maintain a healthy calorie count, you should always make sure that you include a healthy breakfast. You want your body to have a good breakfast because it will give your metabolism a jump-start.

Eating breakfast will also give you a higher level of energy. This may be difficult to understand, but you have to realize that your body is going to need food to refuel, not just when you can feel the pangs of hunger.

If you treat food as a way to refuel your body instead of just eating when you get so hungry that it hurts, your body will start to show more results. There are a lot of people that go their whole life without having this attitude about food.

After you have finished exercising on an elliptical you also have to make sure that you eat right after you are done eating. You need to eat a meal that is high in protein and low in fat and carbohydrates.

Sometimes a great way to get your post-elliptical workout in is by making a protein shake before you workout that is ready or you when you are done. This means that your pre-workout routine will take a few more minutes, but it will be worth it.

After you finish working out on your elliptical your muscles are going to have tons of tiny rips and tears in them. These rips and tears are exactly what you want to happen because it is during your muscles rebuilding process that your muscles will get stronger and bigger.

The protein in your protein shake will help your muscles repair the microscopic tears and rips faster. This means that you will be able to create even more rips and tears in your muscles quicker to build your muscles.

You should also make sure that you are stretching before and after your workout. There are not a lot of people that understand just how crucial the stretching is before and after your workout.

When your muscles are warm and have more blood running through them they are able to perform better. Conversely, when your muscles are stretched after a hard workout they are able to begin healing quicker.
