If you have worked out on an elliptical machine, you will know that some outfits can be very comfortable, while others are plain old annoying, scratchy, sweaty, or too tight. With the proper recommendations, you can find the outfits that will make your workout easy, well ventilated, and comfortable.

Both your shoes and your clothing are a very important part of your workout. The first suggestion is to wear athletic shoes that offer support and stability.

Your shoes should provide comfortable support for your arches, and have plenty of room in the toes and on the sides. This will prevent Plantar Fasciitis, which can be an extremely painful result of shoes that are too tight, or do not fit properly.

Try a brand of athletic walking, running, or cross training shoes that can be purchased in a variety of widths. This will allow you to get the room that your feet need.

Make sure that you are wearing the proper kind of shoes-if you are wearing shoes meant for a different kind of exercise, this can cause problems for your feet. Ask an experienced worker at the shoe store exactly what kind of shoes would be best for an elliptical machine.

Next, choose socks that are made of a moisture-wicking fabric to absorb sweat. Select the thickness based on your personal preference.

If your feet get too sweaty, you can develop athlete's foot, which is both uncomfortable and unsanitary. Each part of your body needs the proper amount of ventilation.

Try different thicknesses and see what is the most comfortable for you. When it comes to your clothing, you will want to wear athletic shorts or Capri workout pants that are also made of a moisture-wicking fabric.

This will absorb your sweat, and keep you dry during your workout. You can wear stretchy workout pants if you are more comfortable, but they generally will come over your shoes and restrict leg movement.

Make sure that no matter what, your legs can move freely and comfortably. Try stretchy materials that will not be itchy, ride up, or become uncomfortable.

You can find clothes like this at any fitness store, or in the athletic sections of retail stores. Yoga clothes can be very comfortable for working out on elliptical machines, treadmills, etc.

For women, choose a comfortable high impact sports bra. The elliptical machine is low-impact in nature, but will still move your upper body quite a bit.

Certain sports bra materials breathe much more easily than others. Make sure that it is not too tight, or your ribs may become sore and your breathing labored.

Select a lightweight shirt with loose sleeves, or a tank top. Most elliptical machines have moveable handles which incorporate arm movement during the workout.

You will want your arms to be able to move freely. Also, choose a moisture-wicking fabric for your shirt, to keep you cool and dry.

If you want to wear a t-shirt, wear one that is long enough that it will not keep riding up, and bothering you. Wear one that will breathe easily, and not show a lot of sweat.

If you want to wear a tank top, make sure that it is not too tight. You can wear a tank top made out of a stretchy spandex material, which tends to keep a cooler temperature than other materials.

If you are trying a new cardio activity at the gym, throw an extra top and bottom into your workout bag, so you will have an extra option. In case something is not feeling comfortable, you will have a backup to help you regain your comfort.

Make sure that your clothing is not so loose that it could interfere with equipment. You don't want extra fabric to get caught in any parts of the machine.

Last, wear underwear. It will help to absorb sweat, keep you cool, and keep you sanitary. Underwear will keep you free from bacteria which comes with sweating.

When it comes to exercising, what you wear can be just as important as stretching before and after. Find the shoes, socks, bra, shorts, and shirt that will be most comfortable for your body.

You will notice an immediate difference when you are wearing the proper apparel. Now get dressed and enjoy your workout!
