Running is one of the fastest growing pastimes of many people around the world. Whether you're jogging down the block or running a hardcore marathon, it can be an exhilarating sport.

It is one of those sports where you don't need a lot of equipment to do it well. This can be very desirable for those who need to pinch their pennies and can't afford to purchase a gym membership.

There are only a few things that you need for running. Clothes, shoes, a place to run, and a positive mental attitude!

The scarcity of needed materials makes it such a desirable sport. But that doesn't lessen the importance of these materials one bit.

Today, we are going to look the importance of the clothes that you wear while you run or jog. You wouldn't think it would matter at all, but it really does.

Many people make the right decisions concerning the jogging apparel that they purchase. They know that they can't mess around with those crucial decisions.

They will buy a stellar pair of shoes and a great workout outfit that will give them protection. They will be made in the shade once they have these things.

You can easily have the proper apparel for this sport, but it is just as easy to have the wrong type of clothing. Having the wrong type will hinder your running ability in no time.

That's why it's important to know what doesn't work when you are going fast on the road. Here are some of the big no-no's to avoid when jogging:

Too many accessories: Sure, you can have a lot of accessories when you are going on that hot date or are just trying to be stylish, but these reasons need to be left at the door when running.

If you have too many accessories, it can definitely affect the speed of your run; and no one wants that to happen.

Yes, there are pieces of equipment that can be beneficial. These can be such things as MP3 players or heart rate monitors.

But you need to make sure that these things are securely fastened to your body so that they don't wobble around and give you an annoying distraction. It might be a good idea to remove any other accessories that might be attached to your body.

This could be anything such as jewelry, rings, or any other type of jewelry. These type of things will only jiggle around and become a hassle when you are trying to focus on your stride and breathing.

Do not run in old socks: Those ratty cotton socks that you bought at Wal-Mart might do the trick when you're lounging around the house, but for jogging they are a big no-no.

You need to buy top of the line running socks that will be able to support your feet. They have material that can prevent moisture from building up in your feet.

This will eventually help prevent blisters. Regular cotton socks won't have any of these advantages.

If your feet are prone to sweating, their material won't do anything to prevent moisture, so the sweat will build up. You will easily get blisters and you will have to slow your running or even stop your routine for a small time.

Pick the right shoes: this is probably the most important piece of equipment a runner has in their arsenal. It's crucial not to overlook its importance.

Your stylish pair of Converse or Vans shoes will not be enough for a solid run. Casual shoes such as these are not designed for running and won't give your precious feet any protection.

You need to buy a pair of shoes specifically designed for jogging. Find a pair that is very comfortable and one that feels like it gives a lot of support.

Finally, you also need to regularly replace your shoes. Running on worn-out shoes can cause injury in your foot.

Usually, it is pretty easy to spot some run-down shoes. The soles will obviously be well worn, and they might not be as comfortable as when you first bought them. This is a sign that it's time for a new pair.
