If you are having problems feeling tired or sluggish, feeling aches and pains, or having digestive problems, you may been in need of a good body detoxification. This cleansing ritual has been practiced by many cultures around the world, including the Chinese, who have been proven to be one of the foremost authorities on holistic healing.

Detoxifying your body means removing and eliminating toxins which collect in your body, then replacing them with healthy nutrients. This will help to protect your body from disease, and will help you boost your immune system.

This is done essentially by cleaning the blood. It is important to remove the toxins in the liver, which is where all waste in the body is processed and eliminated.

When you detox, you rest your organs through fasting, stimulate the liver to drive toxins from the body, promote elimination through the intestines, kidneys, and skin, improve the circulation of your blood, and refuel your body with healthy nutrients.

If you are having symptoms such as allergies, irritated skin, fatigue, or low-grade infections which cannot be explained by doctors, it may be time to cleanse your body. Why not try everything you can to get feeling like your old self again?

Doctors suggest that you try to cleanse your body at least once a year. In order to begin, eliminate all alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars, and saturated fats, all of which act as toxins in the body and are obstacles to your healing process.

Also, minimize your use of chemical-based household cleaners and personal health care products such as cleansers, shampoos, deodorants, and toothpastes, and substitute natural alternatives. The chemicals that you breathe in day in and day out are staying within your body, and can make you sick.

Another deterrent to good health is stress, which triggers your body to release stress hormones into your system. While these hormones can provide the "adrenaline rush" to win a race or meet a deadline, in large amounts they create toxins and slow down detoxification enzymes in the liver.

So, it's a good idea to detox stressful life situations along with detoxifying your body. Yoga and meditation are simple and effective ways to relieve stress by resetting your physical and mental reactions to the inevitable stress life will bring.

There are a few different ways to accomplish this cleansing, depending on how many days you want to spend doing it. Generally, programs follow a seven day schedule.

You can begin with a three to seven day juice fast, which includes drinking only fresh fruit and vegetable juices and water to release and cleanse the toxins while replacing it with vitamin C and other nutrients. While this can be very healthy, make sure that your body is getting the nutrition it still needs to stay healthy and give you energy.

Other programs which are popular include participating in a cleansing supplement package which generally contains fiber, vitamins, herbs, and minerals. Be sure that what you are buying comes recommended by doctors, and is not doing anything too dangerous or radical to your body.

To follow a simple plan, begin by eating plenty of fiber, including brown rice and organically-grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, and seaweed are excellent detoxifying foods.

Cleanse and protect the liver by taking herbs such as dandelion root, burdock and milk thistle, and drinking green tea. Take vitamin C, which helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.

Drink at least two quarts of water daily. Breathe deeply to allow oxygen to circulate more completely through your system.

Transform stress by emphasizing positive emotions. Practice hydrotherapy by taking a very hot shower for five minutes, allowing the water to run on your back-follow with cold water for thirty seconds. Do this three times, and then get into bed for thirty minutes.

Sweat in a sauna so your body can eliminate wastes through perspiration. Dry-brush your skin or try detoxifying patches or detox foot spas / foot baths to remove toxins through your pores.

Last but not least, exercise for at least an hour every day. Through these simple steps, you can give your body a chance to rise above the waste that this world is pumping into you, and start fresh.
