A special alloy knows as Tivolloy is used to make the base portion of a cosmetic dental implant. This base functions just like a tooth root anchored to the jaw. Tivalloy consists of 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, and 4% vanadium. It is a self-passivating substance, which means it is able to protect itself against corrosion. Tivolloy is a very safe metal to use in the human mouth, and once it is implanted in the jawbone, the bone itself adapts to the implant and begins to grow around it.
