Raw foods are now slowly getting back into our diets as a healthy alternative to cooked, nutrient-deficient food. Indeed, it can be mouth watering and inviting to see those high fat, fried or roasted food that we can conveniently find in the nearest fast food, but if you are looking for a healthy alternative to lose weight and get more nutrients, you may want to go for something raw.

Of course, it does not apply to all types of foods. Most of the raw or uncooked foods that we can eat are vegetables. One of the main benefits that people want to experience themselves in trying to go for raw food is weight loss. Of course, raw food has lesser saturated and trans fat, which are of course the major culprits in obesity and other weight problems.

Indeed, it can be healthy to add more of this raw or uncooked food diets into your daily meals. However, keep in mind that if you are trying to make a complete transition from your usual diet to a pure raw diet - or going vegetarian or vegan, it is important to note that your body needs adjustment first and thus you may experience a few side effects as you go into transition.

You may experience headaches and nausea, and you may also feel dizzy as your body gradually does some detoxification processes as you start your raw food diet. Of course, the best way to do it is to slowly make the transition and not make it abrupt for your body.

Among the many ways to prepare raw food are juicing the vegetables and fruits or blending them. You can also soak nuts as well as dried fruits and you can also dehydrate foods and even sprouting beans and other seeds.

Aside from vegetables and fruits, you can also add seaweeds, legumes, grains, as well as coconut milk into your raw food diet.
