Shopping for a new machine for your home gym can be very difficult. There are a lot of people that narrow down their choices to either a treadmill or an elliptical and then get stuck deciding between these two different machines.

First, you want to make sure that you are taking the time to choose the machine that is going to work the best for your whole family. If you have younger children in the home you also want to make sure you find a machine that is safe.

Comparing the two machines is a great way to decide between the two. There is not a hard-set pros and cons list between the two machines because what is a pro for one person may be a con for the next and vice versa.

Running on a treadmill is generally harder for an individual to do than getting on an elliptical. If you are developing problems in your joints, you want to make sure that you keep this in mind as you are searching for the machine that is going to work for you.

The treadmill is very hard on your joints. The reason that it is harder on your joints is because it will give you a workout that is much more intense as you are picking up your feet and landing back on your feet over and over again.

For some people, this is great because they are able to get a good workout in without being able to slack off. For other people they prefer a workout that is also beneficial but that has a lower intensity so they can spare their joints.

The elliptical machine does not require you to pick up your feet at all, so it give the majority of your joints a break. This break is something that a lot of people have to have to ensure they are able to stay healthy and walk the next day.

There are a lot of people that think the elliptical is a machine that cannot deliver a good workout. Although you can get a good workout when you are using an elliptical, you have to be aware of the fact that it is easier to slack off on.

If you are not concentrating on increasing your intensity and pushing through a hard workout, you may get stuck in the same easy pattern. There are a lot of people that find themselves in a workout rut that they do not know how to get out of.

Taking the time to understand how to push yourself on an elliptical can take some practice. Similarly, some people feel that the treadmill is just too difficult of a workout so they will just end up walking.

If you are not very good at pushing yourself to complete a hard workout, you should seriously consider your choice of machine. Take the time to try out each of the machines and find which one you will be able to push yourself on.

Safety may also be another factor that has a big factor in which machine you are going to choose. There are a lot of treadmills that fold themselves up so you are able to tuck the machine away in a closet or even in the corner of a room when you are not using it.

There are not any elliptical machines that can fold up like a treadmill folds up. The elliptical machines that have safety features may lock when they are not being used, so that no small hands or toes can get caught under a pedal when it moves.

You should also make sure that the machine you buy has a safety clip for whoever is using the machine. When you are on the machine you have to make sure you have a way of stopping the machine if you lose control.

Finally, after you have decided between the machines you are going to want to make sure you take the time to find a machine in you love. The investment that you are making should last you for a long time.

When you love a machine you will be more likely to get on it and use it. Do not pay a lot of money for a machine that is just going to sit in the corner of your home and collect dust.

No matter what machine you choose, you can find something that will help you accomplish your fitness goals.
