Stop Smoking Advice - Do's and Don'ts

Quitting the smoking game is easy, provided you have the resolve that is. If you are seriously planning to end the habit once and for all though, you'd best be prepared to stick to the decision from start to finish. To help make things easier, here are a few stop smoking advice you'll need to adhere to:

Do:

Be positive: Some of the most successful smoking cessation programs start with the mind. The proper mindset can help you get through the withdrawal stages (which is the most difficult part of the process) successfully.

Being positive about the program will allow you to see why you are doing what you are doing and will help you get across all of the hurdles while strengthening your resolution.

Set a quit date: Telling yourself that you will stop tomorrow is easy; keeping an exact date however changes things. This will allow you to set specific goals for each week in order to keep up with the date that you have set.

Find a reason why: For smoking fans out there, finding a solid reason to quit is probably one of the most difficult parts of the process. Health issue is not really considered a heavy enough reason for smokers (because if it was, almost all would have quit by now). So it would be best to find out a reason as to why you're doing it. The stronger you're attachment to the reason, the better.

Find something else to do: The habit of smoking needs to be replaced with something else in order to keep your brain busy and away from the idea.

So find something to occupy your time with. Something that will take your mind long enough from the thought would be good. A replacement will be good, just remember not to replace it with something more damaging in turn.

Don't:

Replace one bad habit with another: As mentioned, you will need something in exchange for the habit that you are giving up. Don't replace it with something more damaging like weed smoking or indulging yourself in eating sprees whenever you feel the "nicotine hunger" kicking in.

Give up: It will probably take you a few tries before you get on the right track. Don't get frustrated and just keep trying. If you do fail during your first tries, use them as a basis for where you went wrong with the approach and try to improve.

These are just a few of the stop smoking advice do's and don'ts of course as there are plenty that you will find out there. But you probably already get the idea; smoking is a hard habit to break, but as long as your resolve is strong, it's not impossible to achieve.
