OK, so you've had enough; you've tried your hand at certain types of exercising, and you just can't handle it.

You've tried walking and running outside and it just doesn't work for you. It's either just a little bit too hot or a little bit too cold, and it is just plain comfortable.

And you just get totally bored when you're doing it. Sure, you can look at the scenery, but if you go the same route every day, the view is going to get a little bit old after a while.

You've tried to listen to music on your iPod or mp3 player, and that helped for a little while. But after a couple weeks, you've started to notice that your running playlists are even getting boring too.

And what's more is that running and walking only enhance certain parts of your body. You wish you could do some workouts that would target every muscle in your body and enhance it as a whole.

You have thought about it, and you feel that joining a gym is the best thing that you can do. It has everything that you need.

They provide you with hundreds of different machines and exercises that you can utilize, so that you can target any kind of muscle or part on your body. You don't have to rely on one type of movement anymore.

In addition, you know you won't get bored at the gym at all. The facility is packed with TVs that play news channels, the latest TV shows, and maybe even blockbuster movies; and what's more, is there will always be a cute member of the opposite sex somewhere to hold your attention!

So you've made your decision, and you're going to head over to the fitness center and sign a membership contract. Before you do that, there are a few things you need to know.

Every fitness center should be equipped with the following machines and equipment. If they aren't, then you are at the wrong gym and need to pick a different one!

The facility that you go to should definitely have equipment and a pre-designated area for pre-workout routines. This involves the stretches and small exercises that you will do even before you jump on that machine or pick up those weights.

Look for floor mats, stretch straps, and bars or benches which can aid you in doing flexibility exercises or things such as sit-ups. Every facility should be able to provide you with these things because a good warm-up routine can make a regular routine safer and more enjoyable.

Next, every gym should have a good amount of weight-training equipment. Why else would all the buff men be there?

For the most casual trainer, the facility should have smaller weights on hand-such as 5 or 10 pounders. They will have many different types of weights for people with many levels of fitness.

For the buff men and women out there, they will have heavier weights and dumbbells so that you can do benches or squats. They will even have machines designed for strength conditioning.

These could include machines such as leg presses or pull-downs. These might be a little safer than free weights because they are tied down to the machine.

After you see the pre-workout equipment and the weight training equipment, you should probably also see a sea of fitness equipment. This could include things such as treadmills, ellipticals, rowers, or stair-steppers.

These machines are used primarily by those who want to get a good cardiovascular workout-that is a routine that gets their heart pumping so that it can become healthier.

Finally, if you can find a really extensive gym, they will have other types of perks that other gyms may not. These could be things like basketball courts, volleyball nets, climbing ropes, or racquetball courts.

These amenities would be great for people who still want to get their blood pumping, but without having to get on a boring exercise machine or strain their muscles by using free-weights with all the wannabe Schwarzeneggers out there.

In conclusion, when you're looking for a good exercise center, look for all these qualities. You won't be disappointed when you find the right one.
