As we age, the skin on our faces begins to lose it's youthful appearance and firmness, replaced only with droopy skin and wrinkles. For many people, this can be a bit scary and somewhat stressful, causing individuals to be self-conscious and critical of their appearance. While we've all heard about traditional face lift techniques, recent advancements in the plastic surgery community have been introduced in the form of a mini face lift. A mini face lift is much less invasive than traditional methods, with less stress, and lower risk of complications. In this article, we will outline this procedure in hopes of providing further insight into it's benefits and expected results.

Candidates

Due to how simple this procedure is, the treatment is a great option for patient who are looking to have minor work. Ideal candidates are those who are beginning to notice the initial signs of aging, but want to avoid a more complex procedure. While many patients tend to range in their 30's and 40's, there is no limit to patient age.

Effects

The procedure affects aspects of the face, including the cheeks, jawline, lower eyelids, beck, and nose area. Unlike traditional lifts, which focus on the entire facial structure, this treatment option only affects specifically targeted areas.

How Is It Performed?

During surgery, the physician will lift and tighten the skin and mucles through tiny incisions. Excess fat will be removed if needed. In general, there are two separate techniques used:

Endoscopic - This method provides the physician with the ability to make three cuts around the area being treated. Instruments are then inserted through the incisions, which help to remove fat and restructure the area tissues. A tiny camera is also placed inside the area to allow the physician to watch the entire procedure and choose the correct route to go.

Non-Endoscopic - This method is performed without the air of a camera. Once the incisions have been cut, the skin will be flipped over, exposing the area to be treated. Both procedures require far fewer incisions, resulting in less scarring, and a shorter recovery period.

Find Out More

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about this exciting treatment option, the best place to start is by contacting a board-certified plastic surgeon who is experience in performing the procedure. He or she will best be able to evaluate your situation and address any questions or concerns you may have.
