Many recent claims made by various producers of diet programs and supplements are leading the general public to wonder if there are specific foods that aid in weight loss. While the jury is still out on many of these claims, the simple truth is that the following list of foods is good for you, should absolutely replace less healthy food choices, and if it also speeds up the diet process, that is just an extra bonus on the path to your weight loss goals!

High Fiber Foods

This one is actually a no-brainer. Foods high in dietary fiber will speed up the weight loss process. Because they aid in digestion and help to quickly expel the excess calories and fat from the body, quicker achievement of weight loss goals will be realized by adding more fiber to your diet. Make selections such as whole grain breads and pastas and lots of raw fruits and vegetables with the skins still on, to aid in the roughage factor which also promotes digestion.

Pears

Many weight loss program guides will recommend eating a pear before each meal. Not only is the fiber content good for the digestive process, as described above, but pears also kick start the metabolic process. Eating a pear with the skin beforehand also prevents you from feeling too hungry when you sit down to a meal that may not contain all healthy components.

Lean Protein

Sources of lean protein in the diet will improve metabolism, studies have shown. Be sure the source is lean, so the fat content does not counteract the increase in metabolism. Good sources of lean protein are chicken or turkey breast, tuna, salmon, low-fat dairy products, beans and lintels.

Green and Herbal Tea

It is a long standing belief that green and herbal teas will aid in losing weight. At the very least, the health benefits associated with the antioxidant levels in these teas make it an excellent beverage choice to improve overall health. Studies have indicated that tea with added lemon zest, specifically, also show an improvement in heart health and circulation. The caffeine content in the tea may also act as a appetite suppressant and psychologically, it is also believed that sipping hot tea will relieve the urge to eat out of boredom.

Water

As always, be sure to drink plenty of water to aid in digestion and promote healthy cell regeneration.

While there are many other foods that claim to promote weight loss to specific parts of the body, the above list may contribute to some immediate weight loss progress and will certainly be a positive influence on overall health goals.
