These days, plastic surgery is becoming more common. As the medical expertise in this field improves and the population ages, many people are deciding to take the plunge to permanently alter their appearance cosmetically. Changing one's looks can change their life, as well. The most popular of these operations are:

- Breast augmentation: What woman doesn't want full and shapely breasts? The basic augmentation procedure is a fairly simple one. It is an outpatient surgery and has a relatively short recovery time. During this operation, implants are placed either behind the muscle wall or directly under the breast tissue. Incisions may be placed in the armpit, navel, below the fold or surrounding the nipple and areola. Each of these locations will optimally hide scars. Implants may be filled with silicone or a saline solution. Having a larger bosom will make the hips and waist appear smaller and definitely improve a woman's physique.

- Liposuction: Liposuction is an extremely popular way of removing those stubborn pockets of fatty tissue that simply will not respond to diet and exercise interventions. During this procedure, the surgeon will make tiny incisions in the fatty deposits, insert a slender medical device called a cannula, and suction away the fat. The most sought after areas are the abdomen, thighs, hips, upper arms and buttocks.

- Tummy tuck: Child bearing, rapid weight gain and loss, along with aging in general can wreck havoc on the mid-section. Once the inner girdle of connective tissue and the skin has been stretched out, it becomes difficult to achieve a flat and taught belly. A tummy tuck, also referred to as an abdominoplasty, can tighten the inner and outer abdomen in order to give men and women back their washboard abs. The navel often needs to be repositioned in order to keep it looking natural and centralized. Incisions are placed in the top of the pubic hair region in order to keep the scars hidden.

- Face lift: Aging contributes to slack skin and sag. In the facial region, the jowls and lower 75% of the face are targeted with the classic face lift. Other procedures may be performed simultaneously, such as the neck lift and brow lift, in order to completely tighten up the redundant skin of the face.

- Rhinoplasty: The nose is a central feature and if it is too large, small or wide, it can make the other features appear out of proportion. A rhinoplasty can make a huge difference in a person's attractiveness.

Plastic surgery can change the way one feels about themselves and the world. A consultation with a surgeon will provide specific details for each individual.
