It wouldn't be surprising at all because yoga retreats offer the opportunity to deepen into your practice of yoga, meet new people, renew and rejuvenate, and are most often held at beautiful or exotic locations.

And that's why Sedona yoga retreats have become one of them most popular destinations for yoga retreats
Selected by the Readers of USA Weekend as the most beautiful place in the country, Sedona Arizona is truly magical.

Red rock spires, dramatic sandstone towers, and wind shaped mesas rise from the desert floor to create a mystical setting. Views are breathtaking and you'll find a new one around every bend and hill. The warm red/orange light at sunset will surely ignite your spirit while Sedona's rich history will capture your imagination. Sedona is also famous for it's vortex sites -- places where electromagnetic energy fields naturally collect creating energy whirlpools which are said to have healing properties.

Something magical occurs when you can practice yoga in a setting as beautiful as Sedona. The spectacular scenery combined with the special energy (prana) which Sedona is known for can dramatically deepen your physical and spiritual practice. Additionally, the ideal warm weather will soften your muscles and like minded people will help support your practice. And without the usual everyday distractions you're able to focus on your regular practice of yoga for an extended time in an environment that supports deepening and opening.

And there is so much to see and do there. Explore ancient Indian ruins, hike in Coconino National Forest and Red Rock State Park, drive one of the ten most beautiful drives in the country, ride a train through the mountains/canyons, balloon rides, airplane/helicopter rides, horseback riding, golf, tennis, mountain biking, tour the Grand Canyon (just a 2hr. drive), and more. You will also find museums, art galleries, a great of variety of restaurants as well as many unique boutique shops featuring Native American jewelry, crafts and art. Of course you can just kick back and enjoy the scenery as well.

One of the best way to find a yoga retreat in Sedona, is to begin by searching on line. You'll find a variety of websites offering many different kinds of retreats. Talk to friends and ask yoga teachers to recommend retreats as well. Here are some things to consider when selecting a retreat: Is it for groups or individuals? What are the accommodations; luxurious or rustic? How long is the retreat? Is it for beginners or more seasoned students?

It is also a good idea to contact the trip leader by phone or email and ask some questions such as: How long have they been teaching yoga? What style of yoga do they teach? What is the schedule like? Is food included? Are there any side trips being offered? What do you need to bring? What is their cancellation policy?
