Some of the causes of your back pain may be a result of being pregnant or overweight; heavy lifting, a hard impact, a pulled muscle, stress, bad posture; the list can go on and on. The bottom line is that most cases can be treated and the pain be alleviated.

A good first step to alleviate pain can be practiced everyday: it is good posture. Most people have a strong tendency to slouch while standing, and especially while sitting.

The simple act of straightening your spine while standing and sitting will release some of the weight and pressure from your lower back and distribute the weight more evenly. Another good technique to try on a daily basis is stretching.

While stretching remember it is not necessary to stretch your body to its limits; this will only cause greater pain and problems in the future. Instead, stretch enough to feel it in the muscle, but still remain comfortable.

Though the above suggestions can be used by all, some individuals may have back pain that requires treatment from a chiropractor. Individuals suffering from chronic back or neck pain, post-surgical spinal pain, a herniated disc, bulging disc, spinal stenosis, or pinched nerve should consult a licensed chiropractor for proper treatment.

These problems causing pain require pain medication, treatment and/or surgery. There are many individuals, however, who shy away from the use of surgery or drugs because of the fear of their effects on the mind and/or body.

Effective treatments without the use of drugs or surgery include spinal decompression, hydration, nutrition, spinal foot orthosis, laser therapy, spinal manipulation, proprioceptive and rehabilitative exercises, and even prolo therapy if necessary.

This unique way of treating back pain is able to promote health and wellness by first improving the condition spine. These methods are implemented without the use of drugs proven to work well for patients suffering from chronic or extreme back pain. Spinal health and wellness therapy seeks to work with the patient to not just fix the pain, but to improve their overall lifestyle.

Spinal wellness/treatment methods want to allow individuals to be more active in their life without the accompanying pain from such physical activity. This plan seeks to help patients reach their pain-free goals and allow them to participate in the physical activities that before only caused more back pain.

The program of spinal health and wellness can also address the growing problem of obesity, which is a well known cause of chronic back pain. Teaching nutrition and hydration as a crucial part to improving back pain will have the subsequent effect of individuals practicing better eating habits in order to alleviate their pain. The services offered in this type of treatment are well worth the time and energy it requires.

The best part of this program is that it doesn't just treat the patient now, but helps them learn how to prevent future pain and promote an overall healthier lifestyle; not only physically, but nutritionally. Because most spinal problems people encounter are a result of habits that have a negative effect on the body, the opportunity to teach patients about health and wellness through a spinal treatment center is a a great outlet to educate individuals about the ways to promote a better lifestyle, starting with fixing bad habits.

Once the bad habits are replaced with good habits and a knowledge of of the body, individuals can experience more of life and the opportunities that are typically only accessible to those who can physically conquer them. The strategic ability of chiropractic services to branch out to promote other areas of health in order to improve the entire body is a great way to integrate all aspects of the body to truly live a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
