Has your daily cardio workout become boring and uninspiring? When performing the same exercises on a consistent basis for an extended amount of time, your body can plateau.

This means that your exercises do not give you as great of a workout as they once may have. One way to avoid this is by switching up your routine.

An easy way to make this improvement is by doing your cardio workout on an inclined surface. The incline will give your workout a different angle and make it more challenging and fulfilling.

When utilizing inclined surfaces for your workout, you will definitely feel more of a burn in your legs than you usually would. Start out slower and less intense than you were exercising before, because the new added resistance is guaranteed to work your muscles more than they were being used before.

You will mostly feel this new added element of exercise in your quadriceps, buttocks, and calves. Therefore, be sure to stretch these areas immediately following the exercise and, also, the day after, so that you can maintain your flexibility.

If you tend to get your cardiovascular exercise by running outdoors, try a new route with hills or uneven ground. A great and fun way to add steepness into your daily route is by jogging up a mountain trail.

You could also run the stairs of an open stadium near you, or even utilize your home or apartment stairs. For optimum fat and calorie burning, try mixing interval training with an incline.

Run on flatter ground for one minute, and then follow it by running up and down a flight of stairs for one minute, alternating the times and intensities. Perform this pattern about six to eight times.

If running is not your preferred form cardio, find the nearest hiking trail on a mountain or hill. If you are able to mix both running and hiking by jogging up the incline, then do it.

Walking can be made into more intense cardiovascular exercise with the use of an angle. Find a hilly park, and spend an hour exploring it, alternating between flat and sloped ground.

If you are unable to exercise outside, due to weather or time constraints, you can easily work an incline into your indoor routine. Most workout machines have a setting that allows you to increase the angle at which you are exercising.

If using an elliptical machine, alter the incline prior to starting your cardio workout. You will definitely notice a difference in the difficulty of your usual cardio method, so start out slowly and at a low resistance.

Once you start building strength in your legs and the cardio workout becomes less difficult for you, trying alternating the increasing of the incline of your elliptical machine with the increasing of the resistance. This will ensure a better workout, and you will see results in the tone of your legs and your aerobic capacity.

You can also do this with other workout machines that you utilize when at the gym, such as a treadmill. If you have difficulty figuring out how to increase the incline of the machine, be sure to ask for help so as not to damage any of the machines.

When integrating a difference like a slope or incline into your exercise habits, you may notice you are more sore or tired than you usually would be. This is normal, since your body is working harder against the new form of resistance that you have added.

It is important to stretch after every work out to ensure that you maintain the flexibility of your legs muscles. When beginning a more intense exercising system into your daily workout, it is also beneficial to remember to keep your body strong through hydration and diet.

If you are working your body more than usual, you may need to integrate a greater deal of calories into your diet. Do so by consuming more lean proteins, like chicken and fish, and by upping your intake of fruits and vegetables.

Also, you may need to increase the amount of complex carbohydrates that you ingest on a daily basis, for these will give you the extra energy and boost you need to make it through your workouts. Follow this advice, and the next time you go to do your cardiovascular exercise, try mixing it up and making it more challenging for your body with an incline!
