Cancer is a an ailment that causes uncontrolled growth of cells in the human body. This cell build up is due to irregularities in the genetic caused from chemicals, radiation and/or other malicious agents. Skin cancer infects people of all different skin tones and is developed on the skin area of the body, mainly on the areas that receives more exposure to sunlight. Skin cancers can also affect areas that don't receive as much sunlight.

Skin cancers is made up of of three main divisions, Malignant melanoma, Squamous cell carcinoma, Basal cell carcinoma and non-melanoma skin cancers such as sabeceous gland carcinoma, merkel cell carcinoma and Kaposi sarcoma. There are various warnings you can identify in cases of skin cancer, the most common though is finding any form of new growth on the skin surface such as small lumps and the warnings can also be different based on the category of skin cancer.

Warnings of a Malignant melanoma may be identified by a shiny, firm; dome-shaped bumps that can be found anywhere on the top layer of the skin. A mole that transforms in color size or feel and/or that bleeds, dark abrasions on your palms, soles, fingertips, toes or on mucous membranes lining your nose, mouth, vagina and anus or a large brown looking spot with darker speckles located anywhere on the skin.

For Squamous cell skin cancer, one of the symptoms can be a flat scaly lesion with a crusted surface or a firm red nodule found anywhere on the face, ears, neck, hands or arms. All of these spots, legions or bumps can appear suddenly and develop slowly overtime without being identified. A abrasion known as Actinic keratosis, actinic cheilitis is also a precancerous condition that can sometimes be seen on the lower lips but it can also appear on other areas on the face, lower arms and hands.

If signs of scaly patches or persistent dryness and cracking of the lips are obvious this may be a warning sign of skin cancer. Other warning signs which is less common includes swelling of the lip, loss of the sharp border between the lip and skin, and prominent lip lines. Actinic cheilitis may evolve into invasive squamous cell carcinoma if not looked into.

For Basal cell skin cancer one of the symptoms is finding a flat, flesh colored or brown scar - like lesion on your chest or back and also finding a pearly or waxy bump on the ears, neck or face. The symptoms of sebaceous gland carcinoma can be the growth of a hard, painless nodule anywhere on the skin. For merkel cell carcinoma, shiny nodules of various sizes may be seen in the hair follicles underneath the skin; mostly on skin areas exposed to a lot of sunlight. The nodules may also be the color blue, red or pink. This form of cancer can develop rapidly to other areas. Kaposi sarcoma skin cancer is also a very lethal form of cancer, it is developed within the skins blood vessels which causes purple patches to form on the skin and mucous membranes.

There are also people with various skin types who are more vulnerable to skin tumors than others. This includes persons who are easily burnt, people with fair skin tones and persons that have freckles. Persons who are naturally red or blonde haired are also more susceptible to skin cancer including people with light colored eyes like green or blue. Persons who have a family history of skin cancer are also more prone to the catching this ailment.
