Clothing oneself properly is very important to the type of exercise you are performing and how efficient you hope to be when doing so. Each exercise or workout calls for a different type of clothing.

When it comes to running, the most important aspect of your outfit is a pair of shoes. Running shoes come in all different colors and types.

Many of today's sporting goods or running stores offer you the option of a customized consultation. Here, you run on a treadmill for a period of time while being observed by an expert assigned to assist you in picking out the perfect athletic shoe.

They help the rider to grip the pedals accurately and are light so as to avoid tiring out the legs quickly. Biking shoes usually have Velcro clasps to avoid any potential accidents with shoelaces and the spokes or chains.

Most clothing used by bikers or cyclers fits very close to the body and is made out of spandex or other form fitting material. It is also usually made to allow airflow through, especially in the legs, so the rider does not slip on the seat.

Clothing and shoes intended to be used by bikers was mostly created for those that road bike, take part in triathlons, mountain bike, or cycle outdoors. If you prefer biking indoors on stationary exercise bikes, the most important item for you to wear is a good pair of shoes.

Biking shoes are optimal, since they fit against the feet more securely and are lacking in laces that stick out and are prone to becoming stuck in parts of the bike. If you are getting your cardiovascular workout on an exercise bike, you just need to have a good pair of shorts or pants that fit snugly against the body and will not get in the way.

Those that swim for cardiovascular exercise will need a suit that is aerodynamic and built for agility. Women should wear one piece suits that are comfortable and fit very closely to the body.

Men should wear trunks that fit closely to the body as well, to avoid resistance in the water. Both men and women will benefit from the use of a swim cap to decrease resistance and, of course, use a pair of goggles.
