Before you try to get rid of man boobs, you have to fully understand Gynecomastia. It is a condition that affects about 40 to 60 percent of men and means "women like breasts" in Greek. If you have Gynecomastia, take comfort in knowing that there are many out there with this kind of condition. Although most are not physically painful, they can make a person feel uncomfortable with how they look.

It happens when breast tissue forms over the pectoral muscles and causes them to look like women's breasts. Usually, there are two types of cases. Gynecomastia is usually caused by medications, hormonal imbalance, and other triggers. A person can be skinny everywhere else and still have man boobs. If your body is in relatively good shape but your man boobs are not, there is a possibility that you have Hormonal Gynecomastia. It simply means that the androgen / estrogen ratio is lower than it should be. The second case is Psuedogynecomastia it is usually caused by excess body fat in the chest. It can be the result of a poor diet and lack of exercise.

With either case, you will have to do exercises to get rid of your man boobs. Some of the exercises you may want to considered doing include inclined bench press, chest flies, flat bench press, diamond push ups and chair against the wall position. Secondly, you will want to do cardio to burn the fat. You can do 25 minutes of swimming, cycling, running, jogging or just playing sports. The idea is to make your cardio workout quick, intense and in the fat burning zone. Also, you must do it on a regular basis to maximize results.

If your man boobs are caused by a hormonal imbalance, you will probably have to change your diet. There are certain foods that trigger estrogen production and you will probably want to limit/avoid them. They include soybeans product like soy milk, alfalfa, cinnamon, dairy foods, eggs, tomatoes, flax seeds, chickpeas, potatoes, sunflower seeds, yams, apples, beets, celery and others.

Hormonal imbalance has been attributed to most Gynecomastia cases. There is too much male estrogen in the body. If your man boobs are because of hormonal imbalance, there are certain foods that inhibit estrogen. They include citrus fruits, berries, grapes, nuts, avocado, fertilized eggs, polyphenols tea, organic milk products.

A good diet is very important if you want to flatten your chest, but its still not enough. You will also need to cardio and resistance exercises. For cardio, you can go running, jogging, swimming, cycling or rowing. If you like playing sports, soccer and basketball are great sports. When it comes to resistance training, you can do diamond push ups, chest flies, dumbbell press, cable crossover, and dips.
