A treadmill can be a great solution to many of the challenges that people face when trying to develop a habit of exercising. However, actually choosing which kind of treadmill is best for you may be difficult.

Surprisingly, there are many different kinds of treadmills. A few of the types of treadmills you may encounter include residential home treadmills, light commercial and commercial treadmills, folding, motorized, non-motorized, and so forth.

A non-motorized treadmill may also be called a manual treadmill. This means that your feet do all of the work to get the treadmill going.

When you get tired and slow down, or even stop, the treadmill will follow you. These kinds of machines can be difficult to learn how to use initially.

In addition, when you want to change the inclination of the machine, you will have to stop, get off, and move the machine to the desired level yourself. Then, you will have to go to the trouble to get started again.

Often you will hear that these machines are cheaper, but keep in mind that you are paying for it in how poorly constructed these machines are. The lower price is not worth what you will be getting in the treadmill.

There really is no benefit to buying a non-motorized machine. You can easily find a cheaper motorized machine that has many more benefits and better construction than a non-motorized counterpart.

If you are going to purchase a non-motorized machine, you might as well simply walk inside or outside and save yourself the money and space. Before you finalize your purchase decision, you will also need to consider several other factors.

The first thing you will need to consider is how many people will be using the machine. The more use the treadmill will get, the more likely you may want to consider purchasing a commercial machine.

Commercial machines are built for heavy use by a lot of people. They are usually a little more expensive, but they a built sturdily to handle maximum use.

The second thing you will need to consider is the weight of the users. Some machines are only designed to carry and provide service to people who weigh less than a certain amount.

If you are overweight, and plan to lose some of it through use of the treadmill, you will need to check to make sure the machine you plan to buy will accommodate your needs. You do not want to be unhappily surprised after an expensive purchase.

The last thing you will need to consider is how often the machine will be used. This may also influence your decision about whether or not you will purchase a commercial or non-commercial machine.

A treadmill with a Continuous Horsepower (CHP) motor is generally recommended over a Total Horsepower (THP) motor. There are also DC powered motors, but these are usually only found in lower quality models.

In addition, many commercial treadmills feature AC powered motors. You will also want to check to see what the warranty covers.

If you are looking to purchase treadmills for a gym you are starting, you do not want to purchase a treadmill that is designed for home use. The warranty often does not cover machines that are designed for home use and used in commercial settings.

Be sure to spend enough time researching the qualities of various treadmills and comparing them against one another. It also helps to read the comments on the different types by general users.

With this information, you will be able to generally know what to expect from your machine. As you select your machine, you will also want to keep in mind how much space you have and how much space you are willing to let the machine take up.

Treadmills come in a variety of sizes to accommodate your needs. Decide whether you want a machine that will fold up so your children will not play on it or whether a normal treadmill will be alright and more convenient.

Most treadmills will take at least a space of three feet by six feet. While it is important to get a treadmill with the things you need, you will want to stay within your budget.

It is very easy to pay a lot extra for a few features that you do not really need. You can get a significantly better price for a treadmill that is used, but still in good condition, than a treadmill that is brand new.
